I am THE WORST with coupons. I mean the WORST. I either clip coupons that I never use, clip them only to find out it is not the item I really need, throw the newspaper away before I clip them, or I just don't have the time to search for coupons. Oh, and then there are the coupons that somehow fall between the seats of my car never to be found or used. So, when it comes to grocery shopping I usually just show up at the store, buy what is or is not on sale, and don't take much time to compare and save.
It's a new year though, I am sure I am in the majority when I say that we are trying better to save money, especially when it comes to something as simple as grocery shopping for the family. Luckily, Food Lion has launched a new idea that is wonderful for the worst of coupon users like myself and also for the coupon queens who have been saving for years! And YOU have the chance to win! It's true. There really is an app for that, for this, and for everything. You can now download apps that help you remember everything from the name of a mom you just met, to finding the latest sale prices, to accessing quick recipes, managing your baby's sleeping schedules, locating kid-friendly parks and playgrounds, hunting down the cleanest bathrooms on the road, and managing your household expenses. It's crazy, but it's also wonderful. How our own mothers ever survived is beyond me!
I recently polled our Facebook fans to find out what the hottest "mommy app" was, and the Cozi app won the most recommendations hands-down. I also discovered a bunch of other great apps we all need to try. More information on Cozi and other mom-friendly (actually they are all dad-friendly too!) is found below. Most of the apps listed below are free, however some do come with a small fee. Happy app shopping! Read More

Hi everyone! I’m Matthew, and that’s me in the failed Christmas card attempt picture with my wife, our four year old son, and our just-turned-two year old boy/girl twins. Since the arrival of the twins on Christmas Eve 2009, life has been a little bit...crazy. Adding to the “crazy” was starting a 3 year MBA program at NC State the very same week the twins made their ultrasound debut. Wow.
All parents know that there is never a dull moment in life with children. On top of the everyday chaos, there are other life-changes that can add to it all: new additions to the family, relocations, career changes, etc. This summer, just when things started to settle down and feel just a little more “normal” for our family, I decided to quit my job and start a new company. Why?? Because I - like other parents - know that if you wait until the “right time” to follow a dream or chase an idea, then you may never do it. There’s never really a “right time” - you just need to take a leap (but make sure to get “permission” from your loving, caring, incredibly beautiful, and never nagging spouse. Hi Molly!). Read More

I know many of you have probably heard of the TLC show called, “Extreme Couponing”. On the show, many people are being extreme to save money at the grocery store. By extreme, I mean spending tons of valuable time to save money with coupons. Of course, we all know that reality T.V. is anything but real. Because of the show, I am working hard to educate people about the reality of using coupons.
I love to save money, and I have been couponing seriously for almost 5 years now. However, I would not consider myself to be extreme. I work hard to save my time and money using coupons, so that I can use my time and money on the things I want to do in life.
Today I am going to share my top five non-extreme tips to get you started saving money using coupons... Read More
