The team at TMoM is always doing our best to make our website the #1 go-to place for all of your parenting needs. One of our favorite ways to do this is to build our Directory Page! This page can be accessed at any time by clicking the teal tab at the top of our website titled "Directories."
We are constantly looking for more ways to help make your job easier and we hope these directories will help. Below I have listed all of the Directories we currently have available. Some of these are compilations of all businesses that fit in the listing, while others are just "reader favorites" so that you can see what other moms have approved! Feel free to email us at any time with your ideas for new directories. We are always working on new ones! Read More

Hey again, TMOM’s readers! You might remember Zeek from our January blog
What do you get when you mix really hot, humid weather with lots of rain? A good guess would be "springtime in the south." But a better guess would be "lots of mosquitos." Unfortunately our climate in the Triad is the ideal breeding ground for these pesky pests. And with the mild winter we just had - coupled with all this rain and rising temperatures late in spring - those mosquitos are just waiting to multiply.
“Old Salem’s 5 Yesterdays camp transported our daughter back in time 200 years…isn’t it great to step away from the modern world and all the instant electronics to a slower pace where a little girl can really experience life as it was and learn so many life lessons?” ~ Margaret W.
We all know there is nothing more powerful than a mother's love. This Mother's Day, let's make a special point to reflect on the love we've received - and continue to receive - from our own mothers, stepmothers, mothers-in-law, grandmothers and great grandmothers. Without their devotion, support and life lessons, many of us would not be the mothers we are today.
As a teacher of young children a common question I get is, "How do I get my child reading over the summer?" All children desire and need a break from the routine and demands of the school year, but teachers will tell you that children who participate in reading activities over the break have an easier transition in the fall. So how can families balance their summer activities and schedules with reading? Easy! Just make a game plan that suits your child's interests and your family's agenda.

With summer right around the corner, we’re all looking forward to spending more time outdoors with our families. Whether it’s a day at the pool, a neighborhood barbeque, a camping trip or simply letting your kids explore the backyard, keeping your children safe from the summer sun and bug bites is a must.
When I was in my early twenties, I thought a mid-life crisis was when a 40-year-old man bought a red sports car because he didn't want to get old and had to prove he was still young and hip. Now that I am 38 I know better.

I am excited to start this new
series of posts called "Whatcha Think" where I will present a topic (with no
bias from myself) and let our readers do the rest! These blogs will only be
successful if you comment (tips on this below), so please share your thoughts
... whether they are good, bad or indifferent. Feel free to share the link with
others on your blogs, Facebook walls, or emails in order for us to gain as many
different perspectives as possible.
Moms are a clever bunch, and thanks to emails from fellow mom friends, family and readers, I was able to pull together a list of fun products that all moms should know about. You might remember my earlier post about
Happy Cinco De Mayo! Next weekend we will be celebrating this day that commemorates the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War and celebrates Mexican heritage and pride. Don’t y’all just love another reason to dish out some Mexican food? If you are grilling out with friends, joining a large fiesta, or just having a small family celebration, hopefully some of these recipes will fit the bill.
It seems like every mom has a different opinion when it comes to grocery shopping. Some want the best quality of fresh food, some want a convenient location, some want the lowest prices, some want great customer service, and some want specialty items.
For my son’s birthday, we took our second trip to Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh. On our last trip, my kids got stuck in one part of the museum (more on that later) so this day was to be a bit of a surprise. And, please know I am not going to do this place justice. There is so much to see and I was limited to what my two boys, ages five and seven, wanted to do. Please explore the
I was dreading Spring Break this year. My children kept coming home from school asking where we were going, telling me elaborate tales of the trips their friends were taking. Honestly, I hadn’t given much thought to it. With a new 10 week old baby, traveling was the last thing on my mind. My husband gave the kids a choice, the beach or camping. Camping won.
Local Mompreneur, Valerie Lecoeur, continues to amaze me. If you missed her previous Mom on the Move profile you can read it
A few years ago we crossed a major milestone in our house: getting rid of our crib. It made me so sad. We had it as a
regular piece of furniture for six years and parting with it made me realize I no longer had babies – I have kids! But, it
was a necessary step as my son had just turned three (yes, we held onto it
as long as possible), and he was more than ready for a “big boy bed.”
The transition was great, albeit we had many talks (a.k.a. threats) that
big boys don’t get out of their bed in the middle of the night. And
keeping the crib in the room for a while after adding the bed proved good leverage
in case he did decide to slink out. He was psyched for the big move and was very good about it overall.
Orange, yellow, turquoise, pink. As I look around the park and morning drop off at school I know that warm weather has arrived! It’s time to pack away the sweaters (not that we really needed them this past winter) and bring out the sundresses, shorts and skirts. With
