Every season, whether it’s in fashion or interior design, there is always a new ‘it’ color that everyone is encouraged to wear or use to update their decorating. As fashion weeks start lining up in August and September, we start to get that tingly, anxious feeling while waiting with baited breathe (okay, maybe not, but you get what we’re saying) to find out what colors we’re going to be seeing a lot of in the stores for the new fashion season.

This season the ‘it’ color is Cabernet. This rich, bold and sophisticated color that seems to wrap you in its arms and carry you through fall and winter will more than likely be popping up in closets, homes and gardens (we just saw some Cabernet mums at the farmers market) across the U.S. in no time.

By now you’re probably wondering what a real estate company is doing writing about this season’s latest and greatest? Well, we’ve recently decided to change our wardrobe colors out from vibrant blue to bold cabernet; becoming Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Carolinas and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Yost & Little on October 9th. This new palette gives us a completely new spin on our reliable style.

Each season when the official Pantone color gets released or Marc Jacobs makes a bold monochromatic statement during fashion week, it’s never actually about the color. We wait to see what’s next so we can reshape our style and outlook. We follow the belief and trust of the institution of fashion and design, rather than the physical colors themselves. New colors every season allow us to reinvent ourselves. We still hold true to our moral compasses and quirks but just with a different look every year. Your trusty gray work sweater becomes a cool Cabernet cardigan, and your living room decor may move away from shabby chic to modern European.

That being said, no one ever throws away their little black dress or their treasured antique chest. We keep statement pieces throughout our lives and learn to supplement and update our style with the new and present.

Cabernet may be our new black this year, but there will always be the classic black. Our name may have changed, but we are still the same locally rooted and trusted company we’ve always been. We’re still your trusty black dress in the back of your closet, just with a fresh new look and feel. We can’t wait to see what fashions flow in and out of our offices this coming year and what styles we see in the homes we help you buy and sell, but even more so, we can’t wait to see you try on our new Cabernet. It’s a great color for everyone…
