The leaves are beginning to fall, the temperatures have gotten a little cooler, windows are open and air conditioners are off.  We’ve packed up the pool bags and beach towels and it’s just about time to pack up the shorts and tanks as well. As the fall season draws near I wanted to find out what styles and trends would be popular this year. I looked no further than some of our own stylists and fashion seekers right here in our area. They have shared some fun trends and fashion tips with us in the blog below. Take some time to visit their websites/stores as well! Enjoy …

CLOGS

clogs“My Favorite Fall Fashion for 2015 is by far and away CLOGS! These blister free, easy casual boho beauties are definitely my ‘go-to’ this season. Clogs are certainly in trend right now and something that can easily transition you into and out of every season. Fortunately, today there are many different styles to choose from and a wide range of prices to fit every budget. However, if I am being completely honest I have never really needed a reason to justify the purchase of a pair of shoes!  Hope you find a pair for your feet.” ~ Ali Kraus-Flowers, Editor, Indigo Tilt

PIKO TUNIC

piko1“One of the best fall fashion trends is becoming increasingly popular, thanks to college trendsetters who love it for multiple reasons. The Piko tunic is 95 percent bamboo that is so soft you’ll want to wear it to bed. It’s also low maintenance enough that you can machine wash and dry this beautiful tunic. And the dolman sleeves look great on every body shape. It’s also versatile enough to wear year round – with booties and a long pendant necklace in the fall; high leather boots, tights and a fur vest in the winter; or with wedge sandals in the spring.” ~ Shannon Koontz, co-owner of Bourbon and Grits Boutique

megsFRINGE

“Fringe is probably the most ubiquitous trend that we are seeing overall in fashion for fall!  Look for it in all kinds of outerwear and on accessories, as well!  At Simply Meg’s, we have fringed outerwear such as jackets, vests, and wraps, and fringe is featured in accessory items such as handbags, shoes and boots, jewelry and scarves!  Fabrications include leather and knits.  Our customers are loving it, and it makes a great fall fashion statement of being on trend!” ~ Meg Strader, owner of Simply Meg’s

PONCHOS

poncho“A headliner for Fall2015 is none other than the classic poncho. The comfort and wearability of this piece allows all ages and sizes to don this trend with ease. Choose a poncho that speaks to your own personal style. Fringe accents allure the boho girl while a classic solid piece works well in the workplace. Transition the poncho into an evening look by pulling it over a little black dress or a camisole and legging silhouette. From denim to dresses, there is a poncho for every occasion!” ~ Anitra Mitchell, owner of Mainstream Boutique

FUR

IMG_2275“Anything Fur! The fur trend is hot and we don’t see it going away anytime soon. It’s nice because there are so many faux fur options from which to choose. Your fur statement can be something as simple as a fur trimmed parka that is timeless and can be worn for years.  If you don’t want to invest as much in a piece, opt for a vest or even a scarf. That way you can still have that touch of fur, but it’s a much lower fashion commitment.” ~ Erin Jelinek and Donna Dixon of Twin City Style

TRENCH COATS

TMoM“A great topper or jacket is always vital for fall but a trench coat is this season’s must have item. I love a trench coat in camel, which is so chic and can take any outfit from average to outstanding, providing instant polish. A trench coat is a great investment piece since it is so versatile and never goes out of style. A great topper follows a rule many stylish women follow which is to add a third piece such as a jacket, sweater or accessory. The third piece simply elevates your style effortlessly, no matter the occasion.” ~ Amy J. Viola, Independent cabi Stylist, www.cabiOnline.com

CROCHET, LACE & SUEDE

image (4)“Going to the apparel market is always an adventure – imagine having access to the largest closet in the world! When considering our choices for Fall 2015, the trends we lean towards are crochet, lace & suede (yes, suede is making a comeback!!).  We love the Boho Chic effect that crochet and lace bring to the forefront of fall apparel – whether it be on a blouse, a peek-a-boo patch on a pair of jeans, a vest or long cardi with fringe hemline. Suede was huge on the runways in Atlanta and it was like a flashback to the 70s! Suede jackets and vests, pants with flared bell bottoms, not to mention the multitude of accessories – headbands, handbags, wallets, bracelets and necklaces! We look forward to offering the hottest trends to our customers for this season!” ~ Submitted by Cotton Blossom Boutique

PLAID

DSCN2944“This Fall everyone is mad about plaid! Everything from traditional tartan to gingham and don’t forget houndstooth. These checkered prints are back in black, white and red, but also updated in orange. Add a pop of plaid with a fun top or classic scarf. Be daring and try a pair of checkered pants or a plaid coat. The look is very reminiscing of the 1970’s, as are many of the Fall 2015 trends including wide leg pants and funky prints. If you are looking for a fun outfit for tailgating or your neighborhood fall fest, come check us out!” ~ Kim Taylor & Diane Green of Kim Taylor & Co

OVER-SIZED SWEATER

IMG_9025“The over-sized, chunky sweater says comfy and cozy.  It reminds us that fall is coming and you can pair it with almost anything- jeans, pencil pants or the new flared crop.  It works great with skirts- short, denim, straight or pleated- plaid maybe? Add boots- any length- high heels or wedges for your own unique look.  Try some patterned tights or fishnets for a big 2015 fashion statement.  The BIG sweater is a great investment, allows for layering and will take you through winter in style.” ~ Shannon Kemp, owner Style Encore Winston-Salem

LIPSTICK

IMG_0429“Fall had me hello!  As a summer lover, I go reluctantly into autumn. This year, I’m embracing what’s to come; starting with a lipstick.  Something rich and smoochable!  In a convo with my spouse, I said, ‘I can’t WAIT to try a new lip color for fall!’ His reply, ‘You wear a different color than other times of  the year?’  Blank stare and angry emogi for him!  Fall makeup offers a rich variety of rich decadent colors that speak cashmere and fire pits!   With so many rules; know what works for you, incorporate trends accordingly and just have fun!” ~ Glynis Bell of Glynis Bell Integrated
