For working moms, finding child care in the summer months can be a daunting task. Some mothers have found it easiest to break up the summer into weeks and use different child care each week to keep things exciting. (But keep in mind that you may need to pay a registration fee for each option.) Others like to choose one option for the entire summer.
After reaching out to several moms and businesses, we’ve compiled the following list of summer childcare options that extend through the majority of the work day. As with any of our blogs & directories, the work of many is always better than the work of just one, so we would love for you to comment at the end of this blog with any additional ideas.

City of Greensboro Recreation Centers are one of the best kept secrets in the area. Greensboro has over ten rec centers and most of them all offer full time child care/camps in the summer! You can see all of your options here. There is bound to be one that is a perfect location and fit for you!
Local YMCA’s – Hours may vary slightly depending on location, but the majority of the local YMCA facilities offer child care through the entire summer. Click here to see all of the YMCA branches in and around Greensboro.
The Greensboro Montessori School offers care from 7:30am – 6pm with a summer program connecting the last day of school to the first. In multi-age classrooms, partnerships are created between parents and teachers guiding the child’s educational journey from toddlers through eighth grade. They combine academic enrichment and summer time fun! Dates, prices and registration info can be found here.
Greensboro Day School offers a wide assortment of camps. Most are 8:30am-2pm, which may not cover the entire day for some who need it, but they do have Afternoon Explorations, which can extend the camp until 6:00pm. All details can be found here.
Proehlific Park offers early drop off and late pick up for their camps, which would give you coverage from 7:30am – 6:30pm. This option is only available for 5 years old and up. Details here.
Our Lady of Grace has an assortment of camps that run 9am-3pm, but before and after care is available as early as 8:30am and as late as 5:30pm. Their website can be found here.
Primrose has one location in Greensboro which you can see here. They run from 7am to 6pm and serve children beginning at the infant stage through Kindergarten year round. Summer Camps serve kids ages five to ten and you can learn more about those here.
St. Pius X Camps are offered for children in rising K-8th grades. Camp hours are 9:00 A.M. -3:00 P.M. Monday-Friday. Extended Day Care is offered from 7:30-9:00 A.M. and 3:00-6:00 P.M. Detailed information can be found here.
Child Care Network has full day availability for infants through school age children. There are numerous locations in the Greensboro and Burlington areas. Click here to enter your zip code and find the one closest to you.
Creative Day School has a location in Elon and in Greensboro. There are child care options for infants on up, and Summer Camp options for four-year-olds on up. Visit the website here.
The Club at Oak Branch has full-day camp options available this summer for ages 5-12. Each week has a theme, which you can see here.

Wesleyan Education Center has a wonderful child care program that serves children from ages six weeks to five years and operates a School Age Extended Program as well as Summer Camp for school age children. Hours of operation are from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Visit the website here.
Sprouts is a one-stop locale for all things kid related! They offer child care, preschools, summer camps, tutoring, and more! In the summer, their camps run from 8am-6pm and you can also choose the early morning 7:30am drop-off option. They are for children ages 4-11. Details on the camps can be found here.
Kernersville Parks & Rec website can be located here. Camps run for eight weeks and will meet from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday thru Friday, June 13 – August 12, 2016. Camp will not be held the week of July 4th. There is extended care from 7:30am – 9:00am available for $10/week.
The Piedmont School has full-day options for rising 1st through 6th graders for academic and enrichment. You can choose 7:30am-11am or 7:30am-3pm. See all of your options on the website here.
Camp Creekside is a Day Camp for K-8th Grades. It is a 9 week summer camp. 7:30 am-6:00 pm Monday-Friday. $70 a week for Archdale City Residents and $90 a week for Non Residents. Games, activities, arts and crafts, and field trips. Contact info can be found here.
High Point Parks & Rec offers weekly Summer Enrichment Camps for Kindergarteners through kids age 16. These run from 7:30am-6pm. (A few options have shorter days.) The website is here.
Holy Cross Catholic Church has a child development center (website here) that offers child care, preschool and summer camps options.
Westchester Country Day – Campers enrolled in a morning session from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. can choose to sign up for extended day camp until 5:00 p.m. Extended day includes field trips on a daily basis which might include swimming, bowling, skating, movies, Mad Platter, Safari Nation, etc. $70 per week. SciWorks has start and end times for SciCamps as follows: -Rising K & Rising 1st Grade: 9am-Noon. Before Care available (for additional fee) starting at 8am; free “lunch bunch” available until 12:45. -Rising 2nd-Rising 6th Grade: 9am-4pm. Summer Enrichment through WSFCS is one of the best kept secrets around. This is offered for five weeks for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Be sure to register early. Contact info can be found here.
St. John’s Camp Falcon is offered for children 3 – 11 yrs old, daily (M-F) from June 6th – August 5th, 7:30 am – 6:00 pm. They offer full summer, weekly, and even daily options. Click here for the website.
Creative Palooza offers the all day hours of 7:30am-5:45pm. Programs are for preK through 7th grade. Details can be found on their website here.
Imprints Cares has a Summer Enrichment Program taking place at three different locations. Students may attend sessions at sites for the whole summer or on a week by week basis that fits your family schedule. You can find detailed information here.
AlphaBest Education’s website can be found here. They have a location in Winston and one in Clemmons. All day hours are from 7am-6pm for ages 5-12 years.

A Child’s World has child care beginning at the infant stage. You can visit the website here and see that there are four locations in the area, including Bermuda Run and Clemmons.
Clemmons Moravian Church offers numerous option which can be found here. They provide full-day child care for children ages 12 weeks through 5 years. Hours are 7am to 6pm. They also provide summer camp options for school-aged kids.
At KidSpot Child Care, you can drop in any time, so this is always a great back-up if your regular child care falls through. They are located on Silas Creek in Winston. Minimum stay is two hours. Details can be found on the website here.
Creative Day School has child care options for infants on up, and Summer Camp options for four-year-olds on up. Visit the website here.
Forsyth Country Day School has regular camp hours from 9-3, but before ($35) and After ($65) Camp Care is available every day in the Lowery Lower School. They also provide a hot lunch for full day camps. Camps are offered for ages Kindergarten through 10th grade. You can find more information here.
