Win a Two Night Stay at the River House Country Inn

By Rachel Hoeing, Sponsored by the River House Inn

Take a look at the serene photos we have posted on this blog today.  We know that as a mom, you NEED this escape!  We could not be more excited to introduce the River House Inn to you as a getaway for moms, friends and couples.  We are even more excited to award one lucky reader a two night stay at the Inn … completely free.  Read more to find out how you can win!

The River House is a full-service inn nestled on the banks of the New River, near West Jefferson.  It is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where you are able to completely escape, but not be too far from area attractions in Boone and West Jefferson.  As soon as you visit the Inn’s website, you will fall in love with the River House Country Inn.  Take a few minutes to explore www.riverhousenc.com when you finish reading today’s blog!

The owner of the Inn is Gayle Winston, of Winston-Salem (also owner of Old Salem Tavern).  She's 81 years old, and since 1988, she has devoted nearly all her time to renovating and running the River House Country Inn.

Being on the river, you have the perfect opportunity for wading, tubing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. There are also gorgeous walking trails, which wind through 170 acres. Some of the most attractive highlights of the inn are the guestrooms.  The guest rooms are converted farm buildings that sit around the main house.  They are each decorated with a unique touch and have king-size beds, private bathrooms and Jacuzzis. Guests awake each morning to coffee at your door followed by breakfast in the main house. The restaurant also offers dinner with an international wine list, and a full-service bar.

As mentioned earlier, there is plenty to do if you decide to leave the Inn for an afternoon.  (Although for many of us, I think a rocking chair and a book on the porch would make us quite happy!)  In addition to plenty of entertainment in West Jefferson and Boone, close by is the New River State Park, Grayson Highlands, Mt. Jefferson, New River Winery, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Virginia Creeper Bike Trail, Burnt Hill Stables, Mountain Aire Golf Course and Stone Mountain.

The Inn also hosts a plethora of events including music festivals, Sunday dinners with live music on the porch, and more.  You can read more about the events here!  I could go on and on about this incredible getaway, but I will let you peruse the website yourself to see everything the River House Country Inn has to offer.

Now what you have been waiting for … one of our readers can win two nights at the inn.  They can be weekday nights or weekend nights.  The winner can book the room anytime from April 1st through the end of September.  The giveaway is valued at $400. (The only exceptions are holiday weekends.)

To register for this giveaway, all you need to do is COMMENT!  Not just on today’s blog, but comment on any blog, any time and you will get an entry!  You may comment once per day.  Your comment can be on that day's post or any archived post as well.  (Please do not comment twice on the same blog.) The TMoMs team is immediately notified of all comments anywhere on the website, so as they come in, we will keep track and give each person a maximum of one entry per day for their comments.  When you comment, it is not necessary to leave your entire name, but you must enter your email address in order to qualify for this prize.  Please make sure your comments are respectful and use appropriate language!

We will include all comments left on blogs as entries for the next three weeks.  So if you leave a comment every day beginning today, you can have a max of 22 entries.  This contest will end on Wednesday, March 30th.   Good luck and a huge thank you to the River House Inn for this generous prize!

I would love to enjoy some quiet time with my husband! We both had a rough year loosing both of our grandparents within less than 3 weeks of each other.. We could use this time re kindle our love and faith.

What a pretty place. The last time we stayed in a bed and breakfast was just before my oldest son, now 6, was born. I was hugely pregnant—the innkeepers in Charlottesville were a little nervous. Since then, I can count the times we have been away together overnight without the kids on one hand. We love kayaking, too!
