Sadly, Valentine's Day is not a big gift giving holiday in my house. I'd like to say we show our love every day (well...most days!) in ways other than gifts. But let's be honest here....sometimes a little surprise wrapped in a box with a pretty bow goes a lot further than a daily hug...and can be more practical too!
So here’s a great excuse to shop this Valentine’s Day: Belk is inviting TMoM readers to browse their store and online Valentine's Day Gift Guide, pick out items you’d want to add to your Valentine’s Day wish list, share your picks as a comment at the end of this post, and be entered in to win a $75 Belk gift card! To kick off your shopping spree, Rachel and I “virtually shopped” as well and we’re sharing our favorite finds with you today. Read More

The story of Susie and Donna is one of pure love and hope. Susie, a mixed-breed, eight week-old puppy was found nearly dead in Greenfield Park in Greensboro on August 20, 2009. Severely beaten and set on fire, she wandered the park for 10 days until, miraculously, she was rescued and painstakingly nursed back to health by animal shelter staff.
At about a year old, Susie was adopted by Donna and Roy Lawrence, another miracle...as ten months before Susie’s attack, Donna survived a near fatal pit bull attack. Terrified of dogs, only Susie was able to win over Donna’s heart. This amazing pair now works with burn victims and Susie is a trained therapy dog. Summer is half over. (Gulp) But now is the time to stock up on swimwear for your children for next summer! I know some of you are a little apprehensive about purchasing clothing for the future when you have no idea how much your child will grow over the next twelve months, but I have done this for years and more often than not, the clothes fit.
I usually buy one size up, and if it looks tiny, I will go two sizes up. Better to have something too big and put it back in the closet for another season, than too small and they never get to wear it. If you do end up ordering things that are too small by the time the next season rolls around, you can always consign! A bathing suit with tags still on it will sell!
Here are a few of my favorite children's clothing websites that currently have their swimwear on sale. Simply visit the site and click on the children's section and clearance/sale section! *Many of these have adult swimwear on sale, too! Read More
