I’ve always been a very active person. Conventionally healthy, mother of two girls, involved in everything – at least until I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis two years ago. It was devastating news, made worse when I learned that my kidneys wouldn’t tolerate the ibuprofen that is commonly prescribed to fight inflammatory diseases. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. My doctors immediately put me on several medications, and I spent months in a medicine fog. It was so bad that I don’t remember Thanksgiving of that year.
I vowed to get off all the medicine and find a natural approach to my health and wellness. I tried acupuncture and acupressure, chiropractic treatment, supplements, late night TV cures, and even surgery. But I wanted something that I could incorporate into my everyday life. I researched many different alternatives and the treatment that I kept seeing over and over was Essential Oils. It wasn’t just RA that I was finding help for, either – there was something for my youngest daughter’s focus, and my teenagers hormones, and even my husband’s snoring. I’m not super crunchy – I will even admit to eating the occasional meal from McDonald’s! – and was really skeptical of the effectiveness of essential oils, but I found myself quite literally at the end of my rope regarding my RA, and was willing to try anything.
I started using oils in April and haven’t looked back since. Not only have we had life changing success with my RA symptoms and my daughter’s focus issues, but have also had success with cutting down the life of colds, adding energy, improving menstrual issues, alleviating stress, removing moles, calming nerves, suppressing allergy symptoms and so much more. There are 170 common ailments treatable with essential oils, and over 300 remedies you can make in your own home. My husband, kids, friends, and even my animals are benefiting from a more natural and cost effective way of treatment. I’ve expanded my collection of oils and love learning about their endless capabilities every single day.
It’s a running joke at our house, listening to a prescription medicine ad on television and trying to decide if the side effects are worth the treatment. With essential oils, I don’t have to worry about a laundry list of side effects. They don’t build up in our bodies, we don’t become resistant to them, and we don’t have to worry about growing a third eye.
There were many different qualities of EO’s when I began looking into them. Through research, I learned that I needed a Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil so I could take advantage of their medicine qualities and purity. In addition to diffusing these oils, we drink them in our water, use them on our skin, take capsules daily, clean our house with them and even use them on my dogs and horses. This is not true for all Essential Oils, so don’t run out to the grocery store and buy EO’s to begin using them in this way. Just like any other product, quality matters.
That is why I chose Young Living Essential Oils. They use a Seed to Seal guarantee and they own all the farms where the plants are grown. In addition, no pesticides or herbicides are used. Actually, they use the Essential oils to control bugs and weeds on their farms. I know that every bottle contains 100% pure and natural therapeutic grade oil. They do not add any synthetic materials, for example it takes 27 sq. feet of lavender to make one 15 ml bottle. That’s incredible. Nothing else is added! In addition, when a plant is out of season that particular oil goes out of stock. Makes sense, so how do these other companies continue to supply seasonal oils all year long?
As I watched people’s lives change on a daily basis through the use of Young Living’s Essential Oils, it inspired me to become a distributor. I definitely wanted to be a part of what these oils were doing for people’s health and wellness. I remember my friend saying, “Give these EO’s a try, they won’t hurt you, the only thing they can do is help you. What do you have to lose?”
I feel like I’ve stumbled upon an ancient treasure, and the impact they have had on our family has been a true gift. I’m thankful to be able to share what I’m learning with others, and watch how essential oils help heal homes, naturally!
