PDSSN Buddy Walk & 5K

The PDSSN Buddy Walk & 5K is a family fun event and fundraiser for the Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network designed to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome in our community. Join us at West Forsyth High School for fun, games, crafts, face painting, inflatables, talent show, train rides, music, and more! Your registrationincludes all event festivities, a Buddy Walk OR a 5K race t-shirt, and free food and drinks! A short fun walk (once around the high school track) is optional for adults and children of all ages and abilities. Events will take place rain or shine: Saturday, October 4, 2014.

Paul Rousso Art Reveal

The public is invited to the unveiling of an original art installation by renowned  North Carolina artist, Paul Rousso.  The piece was commissioned and generously donated by the children of Jerry Hyman –  Mark & Anita Kaye Hyman, Michael & Nancy Hyman,  Steve & Linda Hyman Strauss – in memory of their father  Jerry Hyman, who was  co-founder of TheGreensboro Children’s Museum.  Jerry had a keen interest in revitalizing Downtown Greensboro and in 1999 realized his dream of a place where young children from all over would come to play.  Rousso is nationally known for his creations of large scale pop-art style sculptures. All Guilford County art classes,college art students and faculty are invited to attend!  Part of artsGreensboro 17DAYS Arts & Culture Festival.

 

BBQ & Boogie in the Vineyard!

On October 11, 2014, Sanctuary House is hosting the ‘BBQ & BOOGIE in the Vineyard’ fundraiser event to celebrate fall with the community and raise funds to support programming at Sanctuary House. It will be held from 5-10pm at Stonefield Cellars Winery in Stokesdale, NC. This event is open to the public and will offer LIVE music by the Caribbean Cowboys Band, a delicious and professionally catered BBQ dinner with chicken & pork BBQ with all the fixings, a 50/50 cash raffle, lawn games and a cash bar. Tickets start at $35 per person. The mission of Sanctuary House is to facilitate the recovery of adults with severe mental illness in Guilford County achieve and sustain meaningful roles and lives in our community. 3rd Annual Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Yost & Little Family Movie Night

Looking for a free night out with the whole family? This is just the event for you. On Friday, October 3rd, you are invited to attend the 3rd Annual Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Yost & Little Family Movie Night in Greensboro. Come spread out a blanket in the outfield with BHHS Yost & Little for a screening of The Lego Movie on the big screen. Admission is 1 canned food item per person to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC. HearSay Relay and 2K Walk

The HearSay Relay and 2K Walk is a community event to raise awareness for the signs of hearing loss in small children; to support research projects for hearing rehabilitation; and to support continuing education for therapists and teachers of early intervention.

Join Brenner to defeat hearing loss, Saturday, October 4, 9 am – Noon, BB&T Ballpark.

Activities will include:

•   2K Walk & Relay Races

•   Inflatable playground

•   Face painting

•   Prizes and more…

The goals for the 2014 HearSay event:

•   To raise funds that will go back into community-based projects for the children with speech and hearing disabilities

•   To bring our families closer together to show their friends and families the importance of community awareness
