So I already know what you are thinking, “Why would I take my family somewhere for ‘fun’ when it has the word ‘Psycho’ in its name?” Believe me, there is nothing scary or dangerous about Psycho 60 Escape Rooms! It is great family fun for adults, teens, and kids ages 10+.

What is an Escape Room? It is basically a team building experiment/challenge where you work together to find clues and solve puzzles in order to avoid disaster and escape the room in under 60 minutes. And don’t worry – no one is locked in anywhere! The door is simply closed and you are left to solve the mystery!

The photo above shows some of our Triad Moms on Main team members and bloggers who took part in Psycho 60‘s escape room challenge recently. Booking our challenge was so simple. We simply used the website for Psycho 60 to choose our room and set up our time. (There are three different levels of rooms from easy to difficult.) We were sent an email confirmation and simply arrived at our scheduled time. Psycho 60 Escape Rooms is located at 950 Graves Street in Kernersville, which was the perfect location since our team is spread out all over the Triad. We were all at this destination in less than 30 minutes, no matter where we were driving from. Note that the business is housed inside more of an “office looking” type space. It is easy to miss, so don’t assume you are in the wrong place! You will see Psycho 60 signs on the door and through the windows.

None of us in our group had ever participated in one of these challenges before, so to say we were clueless was an understatement! Luckily, our host BJ (aka nicest man alive) guided us through the guidelines and rules and took us to our room where we would spend the next 60 minutes. We had the option to split up into groups of four and five and enter two rooms, or all work together. Since we were all novices, we decided to stick together and it ended up working out well in the end!

When we first closed the door we all looked at each other like deer in headlights unsure of what do to or where to begin. We gave ourselves a good 10 minutes before we used our handy walkie-talkie to contact BJ and let him know that we needed a little guidance. With a simple clue, we were off to the races and worked as a team to start solving puzzles and finding more clues.

It was really neat to see some of us jump in and take the lead at certain points, and then roles would reverse as another person took charge. We all contributed in different forms and fashions. Another huge plus to our evening was the fact that many of us had never even met each other before! Being an online website where we all work remotely doesn’t allow us to be together in person very often, so this was such a fun way to get to know each other.

BJ had informed us that we were able to contact him a certain number of times if we needed a hint, but luckily we only used two (and a half) hints from BJ and were able to “escape” just in time in 54 minutes and 2 seconds! Woohoo! We were pretty proud of ourselves considering it was the intermediate level and only about half of the participants usually escape in time!

We were all excited to know that tweens and teens were able to participate and we thought it was especially perfect for those who are very inquisitive and enjoy a good challenge. This is also a great idea for a birthday party, homeschool group, couples date night, or team building activity.

Operation times are Mon – Thur: 10am – 10pm , Fri & Sat : 10am – Midnight and Sun: 1pm – 8pm. Reservations are required. Cost is $25-$30/person/session. You can often find discounts on their website here or Facebook page here.

Lastly, you will want to keep an eye out for updates on some new games in the Triad that Psycho 60 will be starting. They will be a series of “around the town” escape room type adventures where you go place to place solving puzzles in order to find the next location and puzzles, riddles, clues. These will soon be available in Kernersville, Winston and Greensboro.

Be sure to check out the website at and book your challenge! We would love to hear your results after your family or group of friends take the challenge!
