The other week, the TMoM team met at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Winston-Salem for our monthly pow-wow meeting, and it was one of the best team meetings we’ve had to date. Sure, we enjoyed a productive brainstorm and checked a lot of items off our “To Do” list, but that’s not what made it so great. It was the food, service and ambiance of Firebirds that turned our meeting into a night-out to remember!

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill first opened it’s “taste of Colorado” in Charlotte in 2000, but its popularity grew fast and there are now 20 restaurants across the country. Open for lunch or dinner, the Winston-Salem restaurant is located in the Shoppes on Little Creek off Hanes Mall Blvd.
Each Firebirds location features an indoor stone fireplace and exposed kitchen that allows the smoky aromas to circulate the dining rooms. Guests can expect well seasoned steaks, flavorful dishes, ice cold martinis and much more. Additional favorites include herb roasted prime rib, fresh seafood, hearty pasta, awesome burgers and oversized salads.
Our team started off with a fun cocktail each, along with a delicious queso dip appetizer. Most of us also ordered the mixed greens salad (pictured left). Sounds like a basic salad, but it was anything but with those sugar-roasted pecans and cilantro-lime vinaigrette!
I chose the bleu cheese filet mignon (pictured at top) and it was outstanding! They top the succulent steak with bleu cheese sauce and port mushrooms. I was literally licking my plate clean.
To finish the night, we all shared a “Big Daddy Chocolate Cake” (pictured right) and could barely finish it because it the portion was huge and very rich. It was a perfect night-cap.
Not only was the food incredible, but the experience and service was just as good. The owner put it perfectly when he said, “Firebirds is the kind of place you can go grab a burger (a really good one), before a movie or make a night of it and enjoy a steak and a great bottle of wine.”
Firebirds also offers a healthy kids’ menu, and they pride themselves with 100% trans fat free frying oil. Plus you can enjoy ½ priced Firebird appetizers every Monday – Friday from 3 pm – 7 pm in the Firebar and on the patio.
