Kages Kards: Handmade by the Community and Presented by a Superhero

A local family started an awesome community project called Kages Kards. Aston Vest, a mom of four young children, knows first-hand how uninviting hospital waiting rooms can be. Her son, Kage, has been battling many medical challenges, and they have spent many hours and days in and out of hospitals. The year Kage was admitted to Brenner’s Children Hospital, he received a pack of Valentine’s Day cards that made him so happy that Ashton and her family knew they needed to give back somehow. As a result, her children (a.k.a. “the crew”) came together on their own to create Kages Kards by soliciting handmade card donations from the community to deliver to children in local hospitals. The crew received its first donation of a few hundred purchased and handmade cards from Kage’s elementary school. Today, they have the support of the YMCA of Yadkinville, Yadkinville Elementary, Yadkinville United Methodist Church, Hillsdale Baptist Preschool, Hillsdale Church, Sunrise United Methodist Church, & Smart Start of Davie and Yadkin Counties. They are now offering E-Cards as well! How can you help? Get the word out about Kages Kards! Let your teachers and churches know about this awesome program. Contact Ashton to get on her monthly pickup route and like and share Kages Kards on Facebook!
