Multidisciplinary Team Turns Mysterious Illness into a Diagnosis for Infant
Layne Baker rapidly became ill and lethargic at two months old. A team of multidisciplinary specialists at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Brenner Children’s Hospital treated his symptoms and worked together to find an answer to what was causing this mystery illness. Through genetic testing, they discovered Layne had a rare condition called congenital myasthenic syndrome type 11 (CMS11). They began treatment immediately and within days, Layne was back to his old self. Today, he’s an active and vocal baby filled with hope. Learn more about Layne’s incredible journey from medical mystery to a childhood filled with laughter.
