Harvest Day at Old Salem

Fall is truly a season for the senses – the cool breezes against your face, the sapphire blue skies, the crunch of fallen leaves beneath your feet, the hearty aromas of apple, pumpkin, and spices beginning to float onto the scene…  To celebrate this much-beloved time of year, Old Salem Museums & Gardens will host their annual Harvest Day event on Saturday, October 18 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm throughout the Old Salem Historic District.  Bring the whole family and enjoy a full day of activities and demonstrations, such as learning how an apple cider mill works, seeing how sausage is stuffed, taking in a puppet show, visiting with local vendors and more.  All Harvest Day activities are included in the price of an All-In-One ticket ($23/adults; $11/6-16), available for purchase at the Old Salem Visitor Center at 900 Old Salem Road.

Local Pumpkin Patches

If you are looking for a great pumpkin patch, look no further. TMoM has a fabulous list for you here! Whether you make your pumpkin patch visit a big family outing (complete with photo opportunities or hay rides), or you’re just looking to pop by and pick a pumpkin, we have plenty of choices for you on our list. You can see this list at any time by typing the words “pumpkin patch” in to the purple search box. Always make sure you call the pumpkin patch before you go – you never know if one of these farms sell out early in the season. Have fun!

Local Farmers Markets

In case you don’t already know, TMoM has an amazing Directories page on our website. Visit it here! You can find it at any time by clicking on the teal tab at the top of our website titled “Directories.” One of the many choices on our list is Favorite Triad Farmer’s Markets. (You can go directly to this list by clicking here.) There are so many to choose from in our area and right now is a great time to find your favorite fruits, plants, flowers and veggies for the fall season. If we are missing one of your favorite markets, email us and we will add it to our list.
