Peter and the Wolf
Make special holiday memories with the vivid, exhilarating storytelling of Prokofiev’s classic tale: Peter and the Wolf. Following the successful collaborative effort launched in 2016 by Music Carolina (formerly the Carolina Chamber Symphony Players), Helen Simoneau Danse, and Peppercorn Theatre, the organizations are retelling the classic story through music and dance in an imaginative new interpretation. Each organization brings its distinct professional expertise to the production, making this concert both artistically fulfilling and delightful for all ages. This year there’s an exciting new gift idea for Winston-Salem area families, and it’s one where the shopping helps a great cause! Brenner Children’s Hospital at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, in partnership with Books by Kids Foundation, has published a children’s book about the city of Winston-Salem. Readers will enjoy exploring through the eyes of local children and learning about all the things that give Winston-Salem its unique character. The colorful illustrations were created by Brenner patients, and the book’s author is a local student, Paige McDowell. All net proceeds will benefit Brenner Children’s Hospital. Books are for sale at the following locations: Kim Taylor and Company, Mast General Store, Old Salem Visitor Center Gift Shop, Rolly’s Baby Boutique, and Toys & Co.
