Looking for something new to do with the kids? Get ’em outdoors and immersed in Mother Nature during Forsyth Creek Week with the new “Cache in, Trash out” geocaching trail in Kernersville. Geocaching is like a scavenger hunt using GPS. It’s easier than you think and all you need is a smart phone! Some of the cache boxes will have surprises. And while you’re on the trail, use the trash bag you find in a cache to help clean the area – anther good thing for kids to learn!
Here’s another way to get the kids outdoors during Creek Week: Enter the “Flat Lenny” photo contest! Print out one of the Lenny the Lifeguard coloring pages posted on our website, have them color it, and then take a photo of it out in nature (preferably by a creek or steam, of course! Post the photo with the hashtag #FORSYTHCRKWK on the Forsyth Creek Week Facebook page. Then tell your friends to “Like” your photo. The photographers of the top 10 photos that receive the most “likes” during Creek Week will receive a Creek Week T-shirt.
Grand prize: The Creek Week organizing committee will vote for the photo they judge to be “best in contest.” The winner will receive four passes to Kaleideum.
Forsyth Creek Week runs March 20-28 and offers a pandemic-friendly mix of virtual events, self-guided events and limited-attendance, socially distanced outdoor events – all designed to help us enjoy and appreciate our local waterways.
