Join Greensboro Montessori School for a virtual exploration of their middle school program. They will review their research-based, purpose-driven approach to education, followed by open dialogue with alumni, faculty, and staff. They will also share how they continue to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of our adolescent students during COVID-19.
The middle school program is part of Greensboro Montessori School’s Upper School, which serves students in fourth through ninth grades. Students’ educational experience is rooted in the school’s mission: to challenge and nurture students to develop the skills and courage they need to unleash their full potential. But what exactly does this mean? It means GMS authentically engages each aspect of students’ development – physical, cognitive, psychosocial – and provides them with time, space, and security to grow into the people they’re intended to be. They understand the developmental needs of preteens and adolescents and intentionally prepare classrooms, curricula, and community around meeting these needs. This approach is in stark contrast to conventional, middle-grades learning which requires students to conform to the structure of the educational system in order to feel successful.
Established in 1974, Greensboro Montessori School’s mission is to nurture and challenge students to develop the skills and courage they need to unleash their full potential. The School is located at 2856 Horse Pen Creek Road in Greensboro and can be reached online at gms.org and via phone at 336-668-0119.
