The Montessori School of Winston-Salem (TMS) invites all parents of middle school aged children to join them on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 6:00 PM to learn more about their Adolescent Program.
You will get the very first “Sneak Peek” of their program and brand new North Campus, which is the home of their 7th through 9th grade Montessori program. The cornerstone of the adolescent curriculum is a student-run micro-economy—anything from producing and selling homemade jam to raising livestock and bee-keeping. This small business model provides a real world application of the core math, language, science, and civics.
Community is also a key element of their program and adolescents, who are newborn participants in adult society, are poised to join the broader local and global communities and will become part of the greater Winston-Salem community through their micro-economy work, philanthropic work, and frequent field trips. The residentially inspired environment provides classrooms, a working kitchen, among other amenities, and a facility separate from the main school building that supports the adolescents’ need for independence from childhood and a laboratory to study adult life. Students who graduate from the adolescent program are well-prepared to tackle not only a rigorous high school experience, but also the challenges of and opportunities of adult life.
If you’re a parent wanting to learn more about Montessori education, meeting our amazing faculty and visiting the rich learning environments will deepen your understanding of what their Adolescent Program curriculum has to offer your child.
