The Portrait of a Montessori Graduate

It might be hard now to imagine your three year old graduating from the 8th grade, but picture a child who while in Costa Rica spoke Spanish confidently with her host family and assisted leatherback turtles lay their eggs. Imagine a child with the confidence and creativity to perform music in a local club, which he had written with his friends. Picture a child who has the willingness to question, balanced with a respect for all persons.

As three and four-year-olds, children at The Greensboro Montessori School develop a love of learning for life.  They use hands-on materials independently to learn for understanding instead of just memorization. They use problem solving to develop methods of organization and complete multi-step processes within an allotted amount of time. The Greensboro Montessori School provides a dynamic learning environment for children from 18 months through the 8th grade. Open House, Saturday, July 19, 9-11am.

Kids Morning Out at the Winston-Salem Open

Grab a friend and bring the kids for a morning of fun at the Winston-Salem Open on Friday, July 11 from 10 am to Noon. The event takes place at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Complex at 100 W. 32nd Street in Winston-Salem. This FREE event, hosted by Forsyth Family magazine, will feature games, activities, and prizes. Each adult attendee will receive four tickets to the fabulous prize board. The 2014Winston-Salem Open, an ATP World Tour 250 event, will be held from Aug. 16-23 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.

Family Days at All-A-Flutter Butterfly Farm

Looking for something fun to do during the week this summer? Take the family to All-A-Flutter Butterfly Farm in High Point! Every Saturday is Family Day where they feature one show at 10 a.m. and one show at 3 p.m. Plus, during the month of July they added a Wednesday Family Show (July-2 through July-30) beginning at 10 a.m.

No reservations necessary for family shows (they are first come first serve). Show up at least 20 minutes early to get parked and paid for, we take only the first 150 people who arrive for each time slot! Keep in mind all activities are outdoors, so if there is rain, they will not have tours that day. All-A-Flutter makes for a fabulous day trip, and we featured them on TMoM HERE.
