By Guest Blogger Margaret White, owner of Polliwogs Children’s Boutique

Polliwogs will celebrate 15 years this April! Fun fact: we are actually 33-years-old!  There’s an amazing history behind this local children’s boutique including 3 owners (Melessa Martin, Blythe Barton and Margaret White). We thought it would be fun to hear all three owners’ thoughts about Polliwogs. Follow us on Instagram to catch all the upcoming birthday celebrations. We are excited to celebrate with you! Thank you for your continued support and here’s to many more years!

Children’s Too becomes Polliwogs (1987-2005; 2005-2012)-  by Melessa Martin

When entering Polliwogs, you are immediately inspired with the beauty and happiness that Margaret White and her friendly, helpful staff have created. She has placed her own spin on the business, making a new generation of little shoppers a delight to witness!

I opened the store 33 years ago in downtown Greensboro, under the name Children’s Too. In 2005 I relocated to Lawndale Drive with the new name “Polliwogs,” which means growth and transformation. What a joy my staff and I were able to feel for those magical-years!! Now Margaret has continued the tradition, making Polliwogs so gracious and inviting for a new group of children.

I wish Margaret total success and joy as Polliwogs keeps giving the Triad such a special children’s boutique. I am so grateful that the legacy continues!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY POLLIWOGS!!!!!

Polliwogs expands and moves (July 1, 2012  -2018)-  by Blythe Barton

Polliwogs is more than just a children’s boutique; it is a place where love lives and grows. We are family. The Polliwogs family loves big and you feel it as soon as you walk in the door.

My years at Polliwogs were some of the best in my life. I walked in not knowing just how impactful those years would be. I learned so much. I laughed and cried. I hugged A LOT. I gained a surrogate mother, sisters, daughters, and a favorite Saturday customer. Leaving it behind was one of the most difficult things I have had to do, but seeing Polliwogs continue to grow and thrive under Margaret’s leadership is such an amazing gift.

Polliwogs moves again and grows (June 1, 2018-??) – by Margaret White

I am beyond blessed to carry on the Polliwogs legacy after two amazing women have paved the way.  This community has given me more than I could imagine.  I thought I was coming into a business; little did I know I was gaining a family.  I am humbled to be a part of the Polliwogs tradition and community in Greensboro… it runs so deep!

At Polliwogs, we take pride in bringing you specialty brands that are unique to our store and often hard to find. I have especially had fun finding more tween brands (we go to a size 16 in boys and girls now!) as well as brands that target all budgets.

We have been so honored to be chosen Greensboro’s favorite children’s boutique for two years in a row.  With our new larger space, we have loved hosting events and programs, such as fairy hair days and the cast of the Wizard of Oz.  We have lots more in store for you- be watching for Polli Pop-up shops, more Personal Polli (don’t forget it is a free service!) and more in-store parties…it is going to be great! If you ever have a few extra minutes in your day, please pop in and say hi! It’s our community and your love that put a smile on our face.  We are so grateful!! XO, Margaret
