Sci-Fi Sunday at the Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem
Something is landing at the Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem! Stop by on Sunday, April 24 and encounter interstellar characters from distant galaxies and alternate universes. Challenge yourself in an outer space obstacle course, practice your saber skills, create fun crafts, check out a replica of the Men in Black car, and more! CMWS is only open for this fundraiser. (Event runs from 1-5pm. Star Wars characters will be in attendance from 1-4pm.) Proceeds benefit the CMWS Education Department. Please note special pricing for Sci-Fi Sunday: $6/member, $8/nonmember.

Best Summer Ever

Discovery Concert Series: Star Wars
Jedi warriors and storm troopers take note! On Sunday, April 17th at 3 p.m., the Winston-Salem Symphony will celebrate the premiere of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens with a concert of music from the Star Wars movies, written by one of America’s most celebrated living composers, John Williams. The music from Star Wars is some of the most beloved in the history of film music, including the “Main Theme,” the “Imperial March,” and the “Duel of the Fates.” Members of the elite 501st Legion (Star Wars characters) will be in attendance. The concert takes place at Reynolds Auditorium and as always the doors open at 2 p.m. for a variety of fun hands-on activities for kids . Opening Weekend with The Dash
The Winston-Salem Dash return to action with their Opening Weekend! Games begin Thursday, April 14th and run through Sunday, April 17th. You will not want to miss your first opportunity to see the 2016 team, Bolt, and the Dash Pack at BB&T Ballpark, the premiere entertainment venue in the Triad.
–Thursday, April 14th – 7 p.m. – Opening Night with pregame festivities
–Friday, April 15th – 7 p.m. – Postgame Fireworks, Kids Run the Bases
–Saturday, April 16th – 6:30 p.m. – Chick-Fil-A Family Pack family promotion (4 tickets, 4 hats, 4 Chick-Fil-A sandwiches for $32 – this must be purchased in advance); Princess Night, with appearances from Disney princesses; postgame Kids Run the Bases; purchase unique food and drink items through Food Truck Saturdays at the ballpark

The Children’s Unit Open House
Cone Health Children’s Services invites parents, patients and community leaders for an inside look at its secure unit for patients under 18 years old on The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital campus. More than $3 million in renovations and improvements have been completed in the Cone Health Children’s Unit and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Get a preview of the newly designed patient rooms with upgraded bathrooms; the relocated and improved therapeutic playroom; expanded family areas; and a clearly marked and distinct entrance to the department.
The Children’s Unit Open House will be Thursday, April 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a brief program and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Community guests can use valet parking in front of the North Tower, Entrance A, off North Church Street, Greensboro.
