Merriwood Christian Camp: A True Camp Experience

This summer, kids are going to need a safe, positive, camp experience more than ever before… a place that will inspire autonomy and independence and provide peer social interaction and physical, outdoor activities. Merriwood Christian Camp, in Clemmons, offers quality, co-ed, age-specific programming for 1st-12th graders, all in a positive, Christian environment.

Day Camp (for rising 1st-4th) includes fishing, hayrides, paddle-boating, swimming, crafts, chapel, balloon animals, field games, nature trail walks and more!  For Junior Weeks (for rising 4th-6th), choose from the day OR overnight option this year. Campers will experience cabin unity time/team building, skills classes, climbing wall, blob and water trampoline, rec time, swimming and more. Some of the skills include archery, riflery, outdoor cooking, model rocketry, derby car making, sling shots, crafts, and sports. Middle School Weeks and Teen Week add even more opportunities and options!

At MCC, campers will meet new friends, enjoy the true camp experience including nature and outdoors, be mentored by mature counselors, and be challenged with Biblical principles. Check site today for video, dates, rates, COVID-19 details, and registration link!  www.campmerriwood.net.

Family Days at Purple Alpaca Farms

It’s warming up at Purple Alpaca Farms just in time for the launch of their alpaca yoga and children’s farm activity classes!

When baby Siegfried was born on the farm, they witnessed the family-oriented nature of their alpacas.  “Our girls surrounded them and nuzzled him to move and helped clean him,” said the owner.

Now they want their farm to be a place for everyone and they’re excited to launch “Family Days.”  On April 17th and May 15th, come visit for a 10am farm tour, picnic in their field with a snack and coffee from Alpacafe, and then head to alpaca yoga in the pasture. Send the kids to farm activity class in another nearby pasture!  Spots are limited!

A Middle School that Students Love

Middle school students at Greensboro Montessori School love going to school, where they are empowered to succeed, motivated to learn, and encouraged to have fun along the way. This positive experience stems from Greensboro Montessori School’s mission: to challenge and nurture students to develop the skills and courage they need to unleash their full potential. But what exactly does this mean?

Greensboro Montessori School authentically engages each aspect of middle school students’ development – physical, cognitive, psychosocial – and provides students with time, space, and security to grow into the people they’re intended to be. This approach is in stark contrast to conventional, middle grades learning which requires students to conform to the structure of the educational system in order to feel successful.

Learn more about the Montessori middle school experience on Greensboro Montessori School’s website or register for their Virtual Open House on Thursday, April 15 at 1:30 p.m.
