Sports aren’t always about whether you win or lose, but what you learn in the process. At the Y, sports programs are a great way for kids to meet new friends, build athletic skills, develop life-long passions, and achieve goals in a supportive environment with caring adults.

This spring, the Y offers a variety of sports options across our various branches. Here are just a few:

Kiddie Kickers

Introduce your little one to soccer and teamwork with this approachable clinic-style program for ages 3-4. We start with the basics of the sport and grow a passion for an active lifestyle. Channel your toddler’s energy into a healthy interest in sports while learning the importance of focus and self motivation.

Flag Football

With all the action and excitement of class football, this program for kids ages 4-13 improves overall fitness, as well as strategic game planning in a dynamic sport environment.

Soccer

Learn communication and teamwork in a positive environment where every team member is important. Children ages 4-18 learn responsibility and dedication while improving skills at all ability levels.

Baseball/T-Ball

Hit a home run in this league-style program for kids ages 4-10. All skill levels are welcome to improve their skills with team-building drills during practice and fast-paced games. Make new friends and work on individual abilities like catching, hitting and pitching under the guidance of qualified and energetic coaches.

Volleyball

Set yourself up for success on the court in this program for ages 8 to 15 while you learn the fundamentals or improve on advance/intermediate skills. Each participant experiences skill development, thrilling competition, fun and encouragement.

There are tons of other great options to continue building basketball skills into the spring, try cheerleading or tennis, experience lacrosse and more! Note some details such as practice schedule, sports offerings, and ages will vary by branch.

What sport are you registering for this spring? We’d love to hear about it on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ymcaofnwnc.
