Spend your summer at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art! SECCA’s unique camps emphasize creative expression, artistic experimentation, and active learning through art workshops designed to challenge and inspire. Session #1: Mindfulness & Self-Expression
June 13 – 17 // 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ages: 10-14
Lead Artist: Latisa Tatum
Info: Through an exploration of artistic mediums, campers will discover their unique creative languages and learn techniques that foster authentic self-expression. This camp offers a safe space for campers to develop their voice in a judgment free environment.

Session #2: Mixed Media Sculpting & Fabrication
June 20 – 24 // 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ages: 10-14
Lead Artists: Tony Fonda & Nuala Donohue
Info: From design to fabrication, campers will explore mixed media sculpting, create original three dimensional works of art, and collaborate on a large-scale sculpture.

Session #3: Botanical Art & Nature Discovery
June 20 – 24 // 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ages: 9-12
Lead Artist: Virginia Christman
Info: Inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy and other land art experts, campers will be immersed in the grounds surrounding SECCA and spend the week working with nature to create botanical and land art projects.

Session #4: Experimental Installation Art
June 27 – July 1 // 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ages: 10-14
Lead Artists: Tony Fonda & Nuala Donohue
Info: Guided by experimentation and play, campers will channel environmental artists, like Christo and Jean-Claude, and create large-scale art installations throughout SECCA’s campus.

Session #5: Jewelry & Wearable Art
June 27 – July 1 // 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ages: 9-12
Lead Artist: Olivia Sledge
Info: Inspired by cultures from around the globe, campers will learn a variety of jewelry making techniques and craft wearable art as a means of self-expression and discovery.

Session #6: Pattern & Print
July 11 – 15 // 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ages: 9-12
Lead Artist: Corrie Beck
Info: Equipped with the fundamentals of printmaking, campers will use pattern play and experimentation to make bold artistic choices and take creative risks.

Info: Play with form and composition through collage, cut paper, and experimental assembly projects in this dynamic and innovative paper-based experience.

Session #10: Stomping Ground
July 25 – 29 // 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ages: 7-14
Lead Artists: Taryn Griggs & Chris Yon
Info: Inspired by SECCA’s exhibitions, campers will explore contemporary choreography, invent original site-specific dances, build wearable art, and compose immersive sound scores. No previous dance experience is necessary.

Session #11: Stomping Ground
August 1 – 5 // 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ages: 7-14
Lead Artists: Taryn Griggs & Chris Yon
Info: Inspired by SECCA’s exhibitions, campers will explore contemporary choreography, invent original site-specific dances, build wearable art, and compose immersive sound scores. No Previous dance experience is necessary.
