Summer Adventures at Old Salem: School’s Out Summer’s In!

Old Salem offers unique summer camps where children learn while having fun. Three Yesterdays (June 24-26 from 9 a.m.-noon) is for rising first and second graders. Participants join Sister Maus and discover what it was like to be a child in Salem long ago. Activities include: making and playing with 18th century toys, hearth cooking, learning what school was like, participating in a historic based puppet show, and more. Five Yesterdays (July 7-11; July 14-18; July 21-25) offers a unique summer adventure for rising third through eighth graders. Each camp session is comprised of five days of hands-on experiences combining history and fun. Through interactive activities, campers learn about the crafts, trades and lifestyles of those who lived in Salem in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Activities include working with textiles, pottery, hearth cooking, and other early American skills and trades. Visit www.oldsalem.org/summer-camps for more info.
