I was driving my kids to my parents’ house, but I had promised to stop at the exit before I got to her exit and get the kids some milkshakes. We were all talking and I forgot to take the correct exit. I realized it immediately and said, “Whoops, I missed the exit. I was so busy talking I forgot to get off the highway. We will just  turn around at Nana’s exit and go get the milkshakes.”

My five-year- old said, “That’s OK, Mama.”
I said, “Someday when you are old enough to drive, you will probably do that, too.”
My five-year-old replied, “No, I won’t …  because I will pay attention.”
