Brenner Children’s Hospital Brenner FIT 5K Challenge
Put on your running shoes, get your friends and family together as Brenner Children’s Hospital kicks off the fall season with a 5K run/walk and FIT Fun Run. The 4th annual Brenner FIT 5K Challenge will be on Friday, September 12, at 6:30pm at WFU Deacon Tower. The 5K run/walk will start at 6:30pm with the FIT Fun Run starting 6:45pm.
The Brenner FIT Challenge will benefit the Brenner FIT (Families in Training) Program. Brenner FIT is a family-centered, evidence-based approach to weight management that uses the latest in research-proven methods to improve the weight and health of children and their families. We include the whole family in the treatment process, and focus on changing habits and behaviors, rather than restrictive diets and harsh exercises. Register HERE.

Winston-Salem Open Returns August 16-23, 2014; Brenner Kids’ Day August 16
Back for the fourth year, the Winston-Salem Open will start serving up fun this year on Saturday, August 16. As always, there will be plenty of fun for the whole family throughout the week, and Brenner Children’s Hospital will kick off festivities on the 16th with Brenner Kids’ Day. USTA North Carolina will be on hand to run age-appropriate tennis activities for 6-8 year old participants from 9:30-11:00 am and for 9-12 year olds from 11:30 am-1:00 pm at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
Brenner Kids’ Day is a free event that also includes lunch from Chick-fil-A as well as a Brenner Kids’ Day t-shirt and admission to session one (1) of the Winston-Salem Open. Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure
Join the fun for Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure. A never-before-seen live show featuring your favorite characters from Disney Junior’s, Sofia the First and Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Playing at War Memorial Auditorium Sat. July 19th.
In this event, Sofia prepares for a royal celebration that helps us all learn the meaning of being a true princess with a special appearance by Cinderella. Then it’s off to Never Land where Jake, Izzy, and Cubby, with a little help from Peter Pan, battle Captain Hook to find treasure in a mysterious volcano. Filled with new music, amazing effects, thrilling action and endless surprises, your family will sing, shout, & soar into the action!

Outside the Box: Re-purposing Cardboard for Creative Pursuits
What are you looking forward to today? For the patients at Brenner Children’s Hospital, it’s theArts For Life craft table. A place to manifest their imagination. Now, you have the opportunity to experience it yourself!
With an opening reception on Thursday, July 17th from 5 to 8 pm at SEECA, Arts For Life students from Brenner Children’s Hospital present: Outside the Box: Re-Purposing Cardboard for Creative Pursuits, on exhibit at SECCA (750 Marguerite Drive, Winston-Salem) for FREE, until August 8th. The Winston-Salem contemporary museum will be filled with larger-than-life cardboard instillations, a movie written and starred in by Brenner’s pediatric patients and siblings, even hands-on art actives for the families.
Arts For Life (AFL), a non-profit arts education program, focuses on improving pediatric patient care across North Carolina. Our creative initiatives help patients cope with their medical treatments and hospital stays, decrease stress and anxiety, and keep patients active and engaged.
Swim Fanatics Swim Club
Celebrating 15 years of quality swim programming in the Triad, Swim Fanatics Swim Club offers an array of aquatic classes for children ages 4 months to 100 years old! Swim Fanatics team of instructors use developmentally age-appropriate curriculum based off the philosophies of USA-Swimming & local swim guru, Anitra Fulton (TMOM 2014 Favorite Mompreneur Winner!)
