PDSSN Buddy Walk & 5K
The PDSSN Buddy Walk & 5K is a family fun event and fundraiser for the Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network designed to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome in our community. Join us at West Forsyth High School for fun, games, crafts, face painting, inflatables, talent show, train rides, music, and more! Your registration includes all event festivities, a Buddy Walk OR a 5K race t-shirt, and free food and drinks! A short fun walk (once around the high school track) is optional for adults and children of all ages and abilities. Events will take place rain or shine: Saturday, October 4, 2014.
3rd Annual Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Yost & Little Family Movie Night
Looking for a free night out with the whole family? This is just the event for you. On Friday, October 3rd, you are invited to attend the 3rd Annual Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Yost & Little Family Movie Night in Greensboro. Come spread out a blanket in the outfield with BHHS Yost & Little for a screening of The Lego Movie on the big screen. Admission is 1 canned food item per person to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC. History Rocks!
On Sat, Oct 4th from 9am -4pm, the High Point Historical Society presents its fourth annual History Rocks! fundraiser at the High Point Museum. It’s a fun-filled day with something for everyone. The event includes local bands, food, bake sale hands-on activities, and demonstrations. Bring chairs and blankets to sit and listen to the music in the Historical Park. A special feature will be a rock-a-thon to benefit the Historical Society Adopt-An-Artifact program. Admission is free so come out and support the High Point Historical Society. Country music superstar, Naomi Judd, will share her personal story of domestic violence during ‘Home Free’, the third annual benefit luncheon in Forsyth County to end domestic violence. It takes place October 16 from 12- 1:30 pm at the Benton Convention Center. Value of this prize is $120! Home Free is hosted by Family Services, Inc. and the Children’s Law Center of Central North Carolina. The organizations are sharing two tickets for one lucky Triad Moms on Main reader and a friend to attend the luncheon. The event, and Judd’s story, is part of many activities during October’s national Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a dedicated time to educate and engage the community about the traumatic situations the agencies address 365 days a year.
