Learn more about the basics of neurodiversity. What is it? Who can join your team if your child is neurodivergent? When it might be a good time to pursue further support or testing? What does speech-language development look like for neurodiverse children?
This workshop will highlight autism, which is a form of neurodiversity that impacts 1 in 36 children. Expect an open, affirming, informal setting to learn and the opportunity to ask questions.
Led by Laura Shumate, a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist who specializes in supports for Autism, late talkers (early intervention), and speech generating devices (AAC). She supports children and young adults through her private practice, Stars Align Therapy. Laura is passionate about connecting families to resources and coaching parents on strategies to support their child’s speech-language development. She celebrates the diversity of each client and their independence, joy and sense of belonging. She loves learning about children’s interests and strengths while supporting them in areas where they need extra help.
