Great(est) American Cleanup

The Keep America Beautiful organizations in Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem are seeking volunteers for the Great(est) American Cleanup on Saturday, April 5. Cleanup events will take place throughout the Triad on April 5 from 9 a.m. until noon. There is no cost to participate.

Supported locally by the Reynolds American organization, the Great(est) American Cleanup is a nationwide initiative to create cleaner, greener communities that will culminate in a celebration of America’s 250^th birthday on July 4, 2026. The goal of the program is to remove 25 billion pieces of litter nationwide by the time of the 250^th celebration.

Kara Calderon, senior director of sustainability and community engagement within the Reynolds American organization, based in Winston-Salem, serves as national chair of the Keep America Beautiful board of officers.

“April 5 will be a wonderful opportunity to roll up your sleeves and join family and friends to make a big difference here in the Triad,” Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful Coordinator Andy Szabat said. “The Keep America Beautiful organizations in Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem will provide all the necessary cleaning supplies. All we need is plenty of volunteers who are filled with enthusiasm and energy to create a positive impact on our local environment.

“Whether you’re a seasoned environmentalist or just looking to do your part, this is the perfect opportunity to make a difference in our local communities,” Szabat added. “Let’s come together across the Triad and show that when we work as a team, we can achieve great things.”

Volunteers of all ages are needed for a variety of local projects, including cleaning that will take place at parks, streets, waterways and public spaces. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
