Do you have a beach trip planned for this summer? (We do, too!) If not, check out our favorite family beaches directory. And do you have all the beach accessories you need? As you’re getting excited for your upcoming coastal getaway, we’re hoping this post can make your life just a little easier when it comes to prep and packing. After all, you want to make sure you have all the best beach toys and accessories you need ahead of time for a fun, family-focused trip once you arrive at the beach!

Beach Accessories

Beach Tents

If you plan to spend lots of time on the beach as a family, you likely want to have a tent with you to allow for some shaded time for everyone throughout the day. The most trendy of beach tents these days is the Shibumi, and it definitely is easy to get set up (a major plus!). Some other great options include this tent that has a floor portion to cover the sand, this pop-up option, and this sun shade that comes in lots of color/print options. If you buy an option without a floor portion check out this sandproof mat.

Beach Games

Family game time on the beach is always fun and memorable, so be sure some of your beach accessories are beach-friendly games to enjoy during your trip. Our team loves a good game of bocce, and paddle ball (whether it’s in its traditional form or a Velcro version) is an awesome two-player game. Ladder toss is another good multi-player game, and for when someone wants to play solo it’s great to have a kite on hand (this sustainable kite brand out of New Zealand really caught our eye!).

Best Beach Toys

If you’re bringing young children to the beach, you can absolutely count on LOTS of time spent playing in the sand. We have some awesome sand toy options to share in case you’re hunting for some to bring along on your trip! This one with a collapsible bucket makes transport to and from the beach a little more compact (making it a good option if you happen to be flying to the beach with your accessories, too).

Speaking of portability, we love that this one comes in its own backpack! Child-sized gardening tools are always a hit in the sand, and how neat is this mesh shovel for little shell collectors?

Sunscreen

SPF is a must for outdoor summer activities, and the Thinksport Kids Mineral Sunscreen Stick makes applying (safe!) sunscreen to your child’s face, ears, etc. quick and easy. Thinksport’s SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion is a wonderful option for the rest of their bodies (and don’t forget yours, too!). This Solar Buddies sunscreen applicator has become a huge hit with my kids who HATE putting on sunscreen. The roller and sponge applicator make it quick and easy. You can fill it with any of your favorite sunscreens. The Cerave sunscreen stick is another quick and easy way to apply sunscreen to their faces.

Miscellaneous

And then, of course, there are a few odds and ends you might want to consider adding to your suitcase when it comes to beach accessories…

These colorful towel clips can really come in handy on an especially windy beach day! If you love music on the beach (we do, too!) a portable speaker is a must. Because snacks and kids go hand in hand, consider packing a convenient snackle box so you can easily share lots of options with your children on the beach. And lastly, we are loving how smart this sand removal bag is. (YES to minimizing the sand that comes home with us in the car after a beach trip!)
