YMCA of Greensboro’s Bright Beginnings Program
Back-to-School is almost here, but for struggling families, school supplies and clothes are just one more thing their children will have to go without. So, when Back-to-School rolls around, so does the YMCA of Greensboro’s Bright Beginnings program. This initiative provides 550 of these children in K-8th grades with the new clothes, shoes, backpacks and school supplies they need to succeed. YMCA of Greensboro locations are collecting new backpacks, monetary donations & school supplies from July 15 – August 15. As an incentive, they are waiving the Joining Fee for anyone who donates a new backpack to the program (a savings of up to $75). Students in Guilford & Rockingham Counties who qualify for free/reduced lunch and are nominated by their guidance counselor or a YMCA community partner are eligible to qualify for Bright Beginnings. For information, to donate or volunteer, please visit a YMCA of Greensboro branch location or http://ymcagreensboro.org/ get-involved/bright- beginnings/.
Smile Starters
We all want what’s best for our children. In Winston Salem and Greensboro, it all starts with a smile. Smile Starters general dentistry for youth (up to age 20) is here to help every child benefit from regular dental check-ups and cleanings. Smile Starters accepts all patients with Medicaid, Health Choice TRICARE, or Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage. Cash patients and walk-ins are welcome too. Immediate appointments are available. It’s the right thing to do for your child’s overall health. Start dental check-ups now and your child’s smile will last a lifetime. Oral health screening should occur in the first year of life. Parents may be present during an infant’s examination so the dentist can point out any areas of concern. A lifetime of good oral health begins with Smile Starters. In Winston Salem call 336-777-1272, in Greensboro call 336-370-1112 or visit online at www.smilestartersdental.com.
