If you’re like me, you are always looking for interesting and fun summer day camps to keep your kids engaged and entertained during the summer. You may not know about Old Salem’s great summer programs that offer fun adventures for kids from rising first grade through high school.

Old Salem offers their Three Yesterdays camp for rising 1st and 2nd graders, which is a three day camp full of fun and interactive experiences. The name comes from the fact that it is a three day camp exploring history (in a dynamic, hands-on way).

Five Yesterdays is a five day camp for 3rd through 8th graders, which provides unique, hands-on experiences combining history and fun.

New this year is a Puppet Camp for 5th grade and up, which is a week long camp of puppet making and learning the art of puppetry, which culminates in a performance of three acts from Shakespeare.

High school aged youth can participate in the Apprenticeship Program, which is an in-depth, hands-on, interactive look at the life of the early Moravians in Salem. Apprentices have the unique opportunity to work side by side with Old Salem’s tradesmen.

You can find out more about all that Old Salem offers at their Summer Adventures at Old Salem Open House, which takes place tomorrow (Saturday, February 2) from 10 until noon in the Single Brothers’ Workshop, which is located at 10 West Academy Street). The event is free and there will be a free activity for your kids to enjoy while you learn about all the summer opportunities.
