I remember reading the quote “Live an artful life” many moons ago. I thought, “Hmm, how interesting…” and it just stuck with me. I guess I totally took it to heart and have made a career out of living an artful life. How lucky am I? I often pinch myself so if you hear a random “ouch” outburst come out of me, don’t be alarmed.

Bringing art into my life has completely changed my world for the better and I am here today to tell you a little bit about what I do. And, I will hopefully inspire you to live an artful life too. No, you don’t have to make a career out of it, but you can find many ways to bring art into your world. You can learn more about me on my website or follow me on Facebook. In the meantime, here is how art fits in my world…

I often say I am Interior Decorator by day and artist by night. I have my own Interior business called Addressing Spaces and specialize in redesign, home staging and paint colors. I chose the redesign path since it strikes such a cord with me as it is “the art of using what you have” or One Day Decorating. I can completely transform your space by using what you have. I shop your house and repurpose, refinish and refresh. Did I mention it is totally affordable? I won’t make you go out and buy a whole set of furniture so I can save you a ton of money. I’ll just wave my wand and work my magic! I love that it forces me to be creative. Wait, no coffee table? No problem, let’s just flip this wall mirror on its side and use that instead. Are you short one end table? We got it…we just flipped a vintage crate upside down and placed it on top of the recycled plant stand. They loved it!

One day decorating has instant gratification for all parties involved. We think way outside the box to make your space creative, beautiful and create conversation pieces along the way. My favorite part is the big reveal when I get to show the home owners their new space…and yes it is just like on HGTV! I need to start videotaping the reactions because they are priceless. I have to refrain from jumping up and down like a kid on Christmas morning.

I also specialize in assisting with new construction/remodeling and work with two different local builders Buck Horn Construction and Sonoma Building Co. The whole process can be overwhelming whether you are going through a remodel or new construction due to all the design decisions and choices that need to be made. I work with you to make the process a whole lot easier by guiding you along the way in your design selection process. I work with you from start to finish, when you can finally kick your feet up and enjoy your new dream home!

Furthermore, my husband will surely tell you that I have mastered the art of shopping. Ha! But I do have to say I am a seriously good shopper and you benefit from my shopping consultation services. I am always on the hunt so my clients reap the benefits of that. I just scored an amazing new buffet table for a client for only $125.00! Gorgeous! We were both psyched!

Finally, at the end of a long day I can get my hands in paint or glue to create art after I put the kids to bed. I am a mixed media artist that dabbles in a variety of mediums. I have what I call Art Deficit Disorder (A.D.D.). I love the challenge of trying new things.

I also have new studio space at 361 West End Boulevard in Winston Salem, NC 27101 (and have extra office space available for 1 or 2 more people – call for info.)! You can come view my work as well as join a class. And, please save the dates: June 2nd 9am – 1pm, 3rd 9am-1pm & 5pm-8pm, and 4th 10am-3pm! We are having a Grand Opening Celebration and Occasional Sale (read even more about it in the June Issue of  Forsyth Family Magazine in my Down Home DIY Column or on Triad Moms on Main’s June event calendar). Please join a group of local female artists featuring one of-a-kind furniture, accessories, jewelry and more.
