The topic of “The Birds and the Bees” is a never-ending source of entertainment for any parent. You might remember this funny post we ran on this topic a few months ago. Today’s blogger and loyal reader, Carrie, offers her take on this subject with her second-grade son. The following conversation happened this past summer at the pool. Let us know if you can relate!

As always, if you have a funny story, photo, video or tidbit you want to share, email me atKatie@TriadMomsOnMain.com and we’ll publish it as a future Sunday Funnies feature! ~ Katie

From Carrie:

As my son, Alex, and I are watching a mosquito fly by us at the pool he says: “Mommy is that a girl mosquito?”

Me: “I don’t know.”

Alex: “Well only the girl ones sting you know.”

Me: “Really, I did not know that.” (Is that really true? I have no idea!)

Alex: “Do mosquitos mate?”

Me: “Yeah of course, all animals mate.”

Alex: “Well not people though.”

Me: “Yep, people too.”  (In my head: “Oh crap, did I really just say that?”)

Alex: “No I don’t think so, Mommy, ’cause the boy one has to fertilize the egg.”

(Oh no how did this conversation turn so quickly…how can I save myself now?)

Me: “Well, maybe you’re right”

Alex: “Yeah, ’cause I don’t think men have fertilizer!”
