A Day Trip to the Miriam P. Brenner Children’s Museum in Greensboro, NC

Looking for fun, educational things to do with kids in Greensboro? You need to plan a day trip to Miriam P. Brenner Children’s Museum in Greensboro, NC.

A Reimagined Entrance and Outdoor Learning Spaces

The newly redesigned museum entrance now includes a bus drop-off area, automatic doors, and a shade and rain structure, making the space more welcoming and accessible to large school and family groups. Alongside the entrance upgrade, guests can explore a brand-new lobby and an outdoor classroom, creating even more opportunities for hands-on learning and fun in downtown Greensboro.

The Only Play Structure of Its Kind in the World

The highlight of the new outdoor play plaza is something truly unique: two 30-foot-tall Neptune XXL Climbers imported from Europe and connected by a 25-foot suspended net tunnel—a one-of-a-kind installation anywhere in the world. These climbing structures were designed by Berliner, a German company known for crafting play environments that promote creativity, physical fitness, and social interaction.

In addition to the climbers, the plaza features engaging play areas for younger kids like the Cosmos and Flubber Cube. These structures not only encourage imaginative and active play but also help children develop important decision-making and problem-solving skills. Plus, the open-rope design ensures caregivers can easily keep an eye on little ones.

Designed for All Ages and Abilities

Thanks to the generous support of community donors, the new outdoor play plaza was designed to appeal to children of all ages and abilities—and even grownups. Whether your child loves to climb, crawl, balance, or swing, the space provides endless opportunities for movement, discovery, and sensory play. It’s a great way to burn off energy while learning through experience.

What’s Coming Next to the Museum

This grand opening marks Phase One of a multi-phase capital campaign. Still to come: an indoor, interactive water feature and a tech-savvy discovery center designed just for kids. Construction on these new indoor additions is expected to begin in late 2017, continuing the museum’s mission to provide innovative, inclusive, and inspiring experiences for families in the Triad.
