Wise Man Mardi Gras: All Love, All Day

Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 8am – midnight, Wise Man Brewing
It’s Mardi Gras at Wise Man — with a little Valentine’s flair and a whole lot of love for their community. This one’s for friends, neighbors, regulars, and anyone ready to celebrate together. Live Music | 6–10 PM. Ears to the Ground takes the stage with a full 8-piece band, including four brass musicians, bringing big, bold, Mardi Gras-ready energy all night long.

New Bern Mardi Gras

February 14, 2026 from 10:30am – 3pm, Downtown New Bern
Enjoy a parade, artists, food trucks, live music, various activities downtown, and the crowning of the Mardi Gras King and Queen. The parade route goes from Pollock Street at Princess Street, turns right onto Middle Street, and then exits on S. Front Street. All ages are welcome and encouraged to dress in costume and experience the lively celebration!

NC First in Freedom Festival

February 21-28, 2026, Across Eastern NC
This regional celebration will shine a spotlight on eastern North Carolina — on our eight surrounding counties and their significance, their historical sites, exhibits, and programs — all leading up to the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge. Eastern North Carolina played a vital role in the American Revolution. Moores Creek Battleground Association, in collaboration with regional partners, is actively planning a week of celebrating America’s 250th and the 250th Commemoration of the Battle at Moores Creek Bridge.

Fearrington Folk Art Show

February 21-22, 2026, Fearrington Village, Pittsboro, NC
Featuring the work of self-taught artists who are deeply influenced by the spirit of folk art, raw vision, naïve art, primitivism and outsider art. On any given year you’ll see whimsical paintings, sculptures, pottery and all sorts of work to get your imagination flowing. Admission Saturday and Sunday is $5, cash only, at the door. Come out and see some art!

Celebrate Charlotte’s Black History at the Charlotte Museum of History at the annual African American Heritage Festival. The 2026 event will include speakers, performances, art, vendors and more! The event is included in the price of museum admission.

The Great Outhouse Races

February 7, 2026, Ski Sapphire Valley
The Great Outhouse Races at Ski Sapphire Valley is an annual winter event where participants compete in decorated outhouses on skis. The race typically involves teams of at least three people, with one person skiing, or shall we say ‘pooping’  while sitting on an outhouse and the others pushing the outhouse from behind to get started.

Yadkin Winter Reds

February 21-22 & February 28-March 1, 2026 from 12pm – 5pm Saturday and 1pm – 5pm Sunday, Yadkin County Wineries
Looking for a day trip or a weekend getaway? Then come visit Yadkin County and enjoy the annual Yadkin Winter Reds Event sponsored by Yadkin County Tourism Development Authority. Participating Yadkin County wineries will feature their “Winter Red” (2 oz. pour) in a souvenir wine glass paired with a 3 oz. serving of a tasty food item. This year hours will be Saturday Noon to 5 pm and Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm. Each ticket holder will be assigned to a starting winery where they will receive their souvenir wine glass and a map. You will travel around to each participating winery to sample your food and wine. The ticket is good for both days, Saturday and Sunday – one visit per winery.
