Arrive Early

Since fishing equipment is limited, arriving a little before 9:30 a.m. gives you the best chance of borrowing one of the available rod-and-reel combos and getting settled before instruction begins.

Dress for the Weather

Summer mornings can warm up quickly, so wear lightweight clothing, comfortable shoes, and don’t forget sunscreen, hats, and bug spray.

Bring Water and Snacks

Fishing can work up an appetite! Pack plenty of water to stay hydrated and a few snacks to enjoy after the event.

Be Patient

Fishing teaches patience, and every cast is an opportunity to learn. Celebrate the experience, whether your child catches a fish or simply enjoys spending time outdoors.

Make It a Family Adventure

After fishing, explore the walking trails, enjoy one of the playgrounds, or pack a picnic lunch to extend your morning at Country Park. It’s an easy way to turn a free event into a memorable family outing.

Why Kids Love Fishing

Fishing helps children build patience, confidence, and an appreciation for nature. It’s also a wonderful screen-free activity that encourages conversation, teamwork, and making memories together. Even first-time anglers often leave excited to come back and fish again.

Plan Your Visit

If you’re searching for an affordable summer activity that gets everyone outside, Free Fishing Thursdays at Country Park are worth adding to your family’s calendar. Grab your sunscreen, bring your sense of adventure, and enjoy a relaxing morning by the water with your little anglers.
