A conversation I find myself having often with fellow mom friends is this one: As we lean into the role motherhood, we realize the importance of nurturing all the parts of us that help us show up as our best version of ourselves – for our children, for our partners, for friends and loved ones, and for us, too.

And when I think about what fuels that for me, Pure Barre is at the top of the list. (And I’m so ridiculously grateful for it.)

Sure, Pure Barre is a physical place. It’s a workout studio where you can come take class and get stronger as a result. (And if you’ve taken a Pure Barre class, you know they’re no joke!)

But it’s also so much bigger than just a location on a map or an exercise style.

At Pure Barre, you will:

  • Move your body in a way that’s gentle yet challenging, which strengthens you for anything that comes your way (whether that’s pregnancy, postpartum, an injury, toting kids around everywhere, and so much more).
  • Meet incredible and inspiring people. (And, if you’re anything like me and so many others, lots of those women will go from being people you see at the studio to dear friends.)
  • Feel welcome, encouraged, and supported (both inside and outside the studio).
  • Prove to yourself, over and over again, that you’re stronger than you think you are – something that will serve you so well in class and out in the world, too!

I remember some of the questions I had before I took my first class, too:

  • Do you have to have a dance background for this to be a good fit? (Nope, definitely do NOT let a lack of dance experience or flexibility stop you from giving Pure Barre a try!)
  • What should I wear to class? (Leggings, a top you feel comfortable in, and for SURE a pair of sticky socks for great grip!)
  • So…is this like yoga? Ballet? Pilates? (Kinda…and also, it’s completely its own thing! There are four class types – one focused on balance and flexibility, one about overall strength, one cardio class, and one weight training option – with the idea that this can be your one-stop-shop for all things movement if you want it to be.)
  • Are there classes specific to beginners? (Yes! There’s a free class called Foundations for first-timers. That’s the perfect way to get your feet wet with Pure Barre.)
  • But is it really that hard? (The feedback most people give after taking their first class is, “Wow – that was more challenging than I thought it would be!!” It’s an excellent workout and it’s one that grows with you, meaning it continues to push you the more you come to class.)

If you’re searching for a place that can make you stronger (in more ways than just physically), bring new friends into your life, and so much more, come see the magic that is Pure Barre. I have a hunch you’ll fall head over heels with this place just like I did after my very first class, when I left thinking, “I don’t know exactly what that was…but I can’t wait to come back.”

And I’ve been doing just that for 11 years now. I can’t wait to see you at the barre…
