The Search for Quality Child Care
If you’re a regular reader of this blog, chances are you have children. And if you do, you probably understand how overwhelming and time-consuming it can be to find quality child care and an early learning environment that fits your family’s needs. That’s where the Child Care Resource Center can help.
Child Care Resource Center is your trusted local child care resource and referral agency, working to Engage Families, Enrich Child Care, and Enhance Communities across the Triad of North Carolina.
Engaging Families with Child Care Support
We Engage Families by offering personalized tools to help you make the best decision for your child’s care. When you connect with a CCRC Parent Specialist you’ll learn about quality indicators to look for when touring potential child care programs. You’ll also receive a child care toolkit that includes:
A list of questions to ask providers
Information on North Carolina’s star-rated license system
Guidance on how this rating system impacts your child’s experience
Whether you need full-time infant care, a half-day preschool, or a summer camp for school-age kids, our specialists help match you with a program that meets your needs. WFRC offers a mix of free and fee-based services, including nanny placement services, and maintains the largest child care provider database in the region.
Enriching Child Care Providers
We Enrich Child Care by supporting educators through ongoing professional development and on-site coaching. Training topics include:
CPR & First Aid
Cultural competence and inclusion
Child development and behavior management
Developmentally appropriate curriculum
These services help child care providers enhance their skills, which directly benefits your child. Through modeling, observation, and feedback, we ensure that caregivers apply best practices in real-time classroom settings.
Enhancing Communities Through Advocacy
We Enhance Communities by advocating for high-quality early learning experiences and fair wages for child care professionals. Studies show that access to quality early education improves kindergarten readiness and long-term academic success. WFRC stresses the link between early childhood care, school performance, and future workforce development.
As we celebrate our 26th year, we’re excited to launch a new, redesigned website—workfamilyresource.org—and will soon reveal our new name and branding. Stay tuned!
