The Greensboro Children’s Museum: Building for Tomorrow

Generations of Fun at the Greensboro Children’s Museum

When people talk about the Greensboro Children’s Museum, you’ll often hear laughter in their voice and stories filled with nostalgia. Whether it’s memories of our Big Red Chair, the classic newsroom exhibit, or the thrill of climbing to the top of our 30-ft XXL Twin Climbers, the Museum has left an indelible mark on families throughout the Triad. With more than two decades of joyful learning and exploration, we’ve been fortunate to watch the children of our early members return with kids of their own. From toddlers to grandparents, our space continues to spark smiles and build community through interactive, hands-on learning.

A Legacy of Learning Through Play

As Whitney Houston once said, “I believe that children are our future,” and here at the Museum, we’ve lived that truth daily. For years, we’ve witnessed the magic of intergenerational play—where today’s young visitors explore and create memories in the same exhibits their parents once enjoyed. These nostalgic moments create a powerful connection between past and present. As we look toward tomorrow, we imagine even more families returning, reliving their childhood joy through their children. It’s this beautiful cycle that inspires our team every day and fuels our passion for preserving and enhancing this special place.

The Building for Tomorrow Campaign: Investing in the Future

Our beloved facility at 220 North Church Street is nearing its 70th year. While extensive renovations were made in the late 1990s, time and constant use have taken a toll. To continue offering high-quality family fun in Greensboro, we’ve launched the Building for Tomorrow capital campaign with a goal of raising just over $2,000,000. These funds will help us make vital infrastructure upgrades like roofing and HVAC replacements, along with improvements to bathrooms and exhibit areas.

This campaign is not just about bricks and mortar—it’s about laying a foundation for future generations of Triad families to grow, learn, and play together in a safe and exciting environment.

A Community that Believes in Us

As a proud 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Greensboro Children’s Museum has always relied on the strength and generosity of our community. Your continued support has helped us through periods of tremendous growth and even a global pandemic. We’re thrilled to share that our capital campaign is off to a strong start thanks to a lead gift of $1,250,000 from Frank and Nancy Brenner. Their incredible contribution is helping to turn our vision into reality.

To honor this transformative gift and the Museum’s broader impact, we are excited to announce a new name: The Miriam P. Brenner Children’s Museum—a name that reflects our mission to serve children and families far beyond Greensboro.

Big Dreams, Bright Future

While many of the updates may go unnoticed during your visit, know that big changes are happening behind the scenes. We are building a better future for our visitors—today and tomorrow. The Miriam P. Brenner Children’s Museum will remain a cornerstone of hands-on learning in North Carolina, and we can’t wait to welcome future generations through our doors.
