One of the best ways to spend time outdoors is by camping! The Triad and surrounding areas boost numerous camping spaces for all types of outdoors people. Whether you like the simplicity of primitive camping or the luxuries of RV camping, there is something for everyone!
Primitive Campsites
Uwharrie National Forest – Primitive dispersed camping is allowed except in those areas posted “No Camping” or a developed campground or day-use area. Uwharrie is perfect for getting off the beaten path. You can enjoy fishing, hiking, biking and much more.

Cedarock Park – No need to stay around your tent at Cedarock. This park offers 6 miles of hiking trails, disc golf courses, a footgolf course, fishing ponds, a waterfall, a basketball and volleyball court, a playground, canoe and kayak rentals, and lots of room for open play.

Yadkin Memorial Park at Lake Hampton – This park offers 7 primitive campsites but does have a bathhouse. There is no getting bored at this park! This park offers fishing, kayak and canoe rentals, multiple hiking trails, a playground, a disc golf course, and a dog park.

Hagan-Stone Park – Hagan-Stone Park is a scenic 409-acre wildlife refuge and recreational facility. Camps will enjoy hiking, lakes, kayaking, playgrounds and in the summer months, the Aquatic Center.

Your Own Backyard – This one is great for parents with kids that are new to camping or just want to spend a night under the stars. Set up a tent in your backyard and tell stories to each other under the glow of a flashlight.
Campgrounds
Stone Mountain – At Stone Mountain you can enjoy either tent, trailer or RV camping. Some sites have water and electricity hook-ups. As well as, a nice bathhouse on the premises. Stone Mountain offers hiking trails with amazing views, waterfalls to play in, rock climbing, horseback riding and fishing.

Oak Hollow – Oak Hollow campground offers all types of camping options. Plus, since it is located with Oak Hollow Park, campers can enjoy the amenities there too.

RiverWalk RV Park – RiverWalk offers an unparalleled camping experience that’s been voted #1 Place to Camp in North Carolina two years running! Nestled along the Yadkin River, his relaxing campground is only a few minutes away from Historic Downtown Elkin.

Dan River Campground – Enjoy camping along the beautiful Dan River! Plus, the campground offers a pool, playground, water fun, hiking and fishing. Nearby, you can find companies that offer canoeing, kayaking and tubing services.

Hanging Rock State Park – Do you love hiking, mountain views, waterfalls and lake swimming and fishing? Then, Hanging Rock State Park camping is for you! This campground is for RVs and tent campers. There is a bathhouse on site.

Asheboro’s Jellystone Park Campground – Camping at Jellystone Park in Asheboro is like staying at a mini amusement park! Which means, your family will not be bored at this campground. Some of the amenities they offer are laser tag, themed weekends, jumping pillow, an outdoor theater, golf cart rentals, an inflatable obstacle course. Just to name a few! Greensboro KOA Journey Campground – Swimming, walking trails and outdoor games are just a few of the amenities you will find at the Greensboro KOA Campground. In addition, this campground is in the proximity of all that the city of Greensboro has to offer too. Namely, the campground is close to the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, Greensboro Natural Science Center, restaurants, outlet shopping, The Greensboro Coliseum and Tanger Center of Performing Arts.

Dan Nicholas Park Campground – You can tent camp, RV camp or rent a cabin at this campground. This campground is attached to the amazing Dan Nicholas Park! Beyond the pond (that you can fish in), you’ll find all of the park amenities. Dan Nicholas Park has mini golf, large playground, carousel, mini train rides, a zoo, splashpad, gem mining and so much more!

Deep River RV Park and Campground – This campground has more than enough to keep a family busy. They offer a pool, miles of hiking trails, hayrides, billiards, a playground, fishing and kayaking. However, if that is not enough, they are located near the gigantic NC Zoo! You can spend the day exploring the North American and African animal exhibits.

Tanglewood RV Campground – The RV campsites are far enough away from the nosier areas of the park. However, it is close enough for campers to enjoy all that this 1,100-acre park has to offer. Camping at Tanglewood you can enjoy playgrounds, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, biking, tennis, swimming, boating, gardens and more.
