Kids Bowl Free 2026: Free Summer Bowling in NC — Triad, Triangle, Charlotte & Beyond
Last updated: 2026 | By Sarah Marchwiany
If you haven’t signed up for Kids Bowl Free yet, today is the day. This is hands-down one of the best free summer programs available for Triad families — and with participating locations across North Carolina from the mountains to the coast, it’s worth knowing about no matter where your family spends the summer.
Here’s everything you need to know, plus a complete directory of every participating NC bowling center organized by region.
How Kids Bowl Free Works
Kids Bowl Free gives registered kids two free games of bowling every day, all summer long at participating bowling centers. Registration is completely free for kids.
A few important details before you go:
- Age limits vary by location. Each bowling center sets its own age restrictions. Most locations accept kids through age 15; some go up to 17. Always verify at your specific center when you register.
- Blackout times may apply. Some centers restrict free game redemption on weekend evenings and peak hours. For example, at Spare Time Entertainment locations, free games are valid Sunday–Thursday open to close, and Fridays & Saturdays before 5pm. Check your specific center’s rules.
- Coupons come by email weekly. Once the program begins, you’ll receive an email every Sunday morning with a link to your coupons for that week. You can also log into your account at any time to access them — you don’t have to wait for the email.
- This program is not for groups. Kids Bowl Free is not for daycares, school field trips, camps, or birthday parties. It’s designed for individual family use.
- Program dates: The 2026 program runs May 1 through September 30, 2026. Check your specific center’s registration page for their individual start and end dates.

How to Sign Up
- Go to kidsbowlfree.com
- Find a participating bowling center near you (use our NC directory below)
- Create a free account and register your kids — takes about a minute
- Receive weekly coupon emails once the program begins, or log in to access them anytime
Sign up early. You can register before the program start date, but coupons won’t be available until the program begins. Early registration means you’re ready to go the moment summer starts.
One center per registration. When you register, you pick one bowling center. Your coupons are only valid at that location — choose the one you plan to use most.
Shoe Rentals — The One Cost You’ll Have
Kids Bowl Free is genuinely free for the games, but shoe rental is not included. Bowling shoes are required at every lane. Expect $3–5 per person per visit.
Some centers offer a summer-long shoe rental pass — ask at the front desk when you first visit if you plan to bowl frequently.
Money-saving tip: Check used sporting goods stores like Play It Again Sports or online for inexpensive kids’ bowling shoes. If your family plans to bowl regularly, owning a pair pays for itself quickly.
Don’t forget socks. Bowling shoes require socks. Pack them or you’ll be buying them at the counter.
The Family Pass — Adults Bowl Too
Kids Bowl Free is free for kids, but adults need a separate pass to participate alongside them. The Family Pass starts at $34.95 and includes 2 games per person per day for the entire summer. Options:
- 2-person adult pass: $26.96
- 4-person adult pass: $34.16
This covers the entire summer — a genuinely excellent value if you plan to go more than a few times.
You do not need the Family Pass to use Kids Bowl Free. Kids bowl free regardless. Adults who skip the pass simply purchase games separately at regular rates.
Pro tip: If you decline the Family Pass once during checkout, they may offer a discount on the next screen — worth trying.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of Kids Bowl Free
- Sign up early. The program is popular and early registration means you’re ready when summer begins.
- Go on weekday mornings. Most centers have no blackout restrictions on weekday mornings — shorter waits, more relaxed atmosphere, easier for little ones.
- Check your center’s specific rules. Hours, blackout times, age limits, and shoe rental options all vary by location. Spend two minutes on your center’s registration page before your first visit.
- Pair it with a Triad free day. In Kernersville, Countryside Lanes is close to Triad Park and Cedarock Park — a bowling morning plus a park afternoon is a complete budget-friendly day. In Winston-Salem, Creekside Lanes is convenient to Salem Lake. In Greensboro, Spare Time and Main Event are both close to other family activities.
- Bring your own snacks. Bowling alley concession food adds up fast. A packed cooler in the car for post-bowling snacks keeps costs down.
- Consider buying bowling shoes for the kids. If your family bowls more than 6–7 times, a cheap pair of kids’ bowling shoes pays for itself versus paying $3–5 per visit for rentals.
