A Day Trip to Kernersville

With summer approaching, moms everywhere are looking for ideas on where to go and how to keep their families entertained. Kernersville is a great place to visit and spend time. Located between Winston-Salem and Greensboro, Kernersville is easily accessible. There are activities for all ages in what is claimed “the heart of the Triad,” including museums, breweries, DIY studios, parks and more.

Use our list below to pick some ideas for a day of fun with your family! Each venue is linked to the corresponding website where you can gather additional information.

MUSEUMS, ACTIVITIES & EXPERIENCES

Korner’s Folley – Kernersville’s very own unique historic home. Open for tours Wednesday-Sunday, tickets range between $6-10. 

Kernersville Pool & Splash Park – Located within the YMCA, this public community pool and water park has an Olympic size pool, slide, obstacle course, a shallow-depth splash park with and a large patio deck for relaxing. Grab snacks inside the lobby or bring a cooler! They even have a playground onside next to the fenced-in pool area.

Reptile Museum – CCSB Reptile Rescue and Rehab is NC’s largest non-profit reptile and rehab center. Dedicated to turtles, crocodiles, snakes, lizards, and more, they house over 250 reptiles! There is a suggested donation for entry.

Paul J Ciener Botanical Gardens – Enjoy the beauty and be inspired! The gardens are open to the public free of charge all day, every day of the year. Visiting with a group? Sign up for guided tours in the welcome center!

PARKS

Harmon Park – Conveniently located in downtown Kernersville, this park is open with a large multi-use grassy area for the kids to run. Bring a picnic or a party for a fun afternoon!

 

Fourth of July Park – Play tennis, skate in the skatepark, play basketball, check out the historic landmarks, walk the trails, play in the creek and enjoy the huge playground suitable for all ages. There are plenty of shelters, grills, and space for gatherings. There is even a dog park for your furry friends!

 

SHOP

Jane Made And Found – Looking for a unique, carefully curated gift? The inventory and set up at Jane is constantly changing.   1. Great article. I had not heard about the Reptile Museum – so cool… can’t wait to try it out! Also want to mention the cat cafe – “Waffles and Whiskers” – stumbled upon this place and my elementary and middle schooler both LOVE it – we have to make trips to Kville every couple of weeks just for this reason!

    admission is the purchase of a waffle – will get you in to play with the cats and kittens – many of which are up for adoption. Great waffles and very clean (don’t worry – the cat room is completely separate so no cat hairs in your food!)

    It also gives me an excuse to pop into Jane right across the street – my personal favorite k’ville place to shop! thanks for mentioning that as well!

  2. Hi! You missed the Kernersville Museum. We have tons of local history and plenty of fun things for kids to do. We would love for you to check us out. We are about 1/4 a mile from The Workshop. 127 West Mountain Street.
