Midtown Cafe & Dessertery – Delicious Dining For the Whole Family!
Last week we ran a gift card giveaway to Midtown Cafe & Dessertery on our Facebook page and received numerous comments with praises sung from families all around the Triad! (You may find some freebies while reading today’s blog, too!) Not only did the Facebook comments contain many positive remarks about the food at Midtown, but the staff and service as well. Some of our TMoM team members and our children dined at Midtown Dessertery & Cafe for lunch last week and we wanted to share our experience with our readers. Whether Midtown has been a go-to place for your family for years, or if you have never dined here before, I can promise there will always be something new and delicious for you to try!
Two of the things that I thought moms would appreciate the most are the gluten free menu and the kids’ menu. The Gluten Free Menu includes breakfasts, sides, salads, lunch items and comfort food dinners. In addition, the managers and staff at Midtown are happy to accommodate for other allergies or special needs when ordering food.
The kids’ menu includes breakfast items which are served anytime (more about these below), as well as chicken fingers, quesadillas, grilled cheese, turkey sandwiches, and ham sandwiches. All lunch items include pasta, fruit, chips or fries, all for about $5.
Our children all ordered breakfast items when we visited last week. Bears in the snow (pictured below) was a favorite, as well as the “caterpillar” pancakes, French Toast, and “Ride ‘Em Cowboy” which includes eggs, pancakes and bacon.
We asked the kids for some feedback on their experience and they had this to say:
“I loved the scrambled eggs and the white sugar in the French toast. It is a fun place!!”
“I thought the names for the foods were very creative & I loved the chocolate chips in my pancakes!”
“The caterpillar pancakes were so funny and I liked to gobble them up one by one.”
“I liked the creativity with the pancake bears. I also like seeing all the desserts when you first walked in.”
“I liked the fountain outside with all the shiny coins. And the tables inside were really good looking.”
Out of the mouths of babes, right?
The moms enjoyed a variety of lunch items including the Tarragon Chicken Salad Sandwich, the Pinehurst Chicken Grill and The Southerner (grilled pimento cheese sandwich) . All were absolutely delicious. One of my personal favorites from previous visits is the “Special Sandwich” which is a grilled sandwich on wheat bread with chopped bacon and onion and melted Swiss cheese. Wow! We loved the fact that there is a large salad selection as well, with many healthy choices. Since the breakfast items are served all day, we had a tough time deciding between lunch items or breakfast favorites including the “peach delight” pancakes and spinach and feta omelettes!
Of course the favorite of many at this establishment is the dessert counter. You can’t miss the display of delectable dishes at the entrance to the restaurant. From the 5-Flavor Pound Cake to the Key Lime Pie to the Cream Cheese Brownies, there is definitely a dessert to fit all taste-buds!
In a nutshell, we found that Midtown Cafe & Dessertry is affordable, efficient, family-friendly, and hosts a variety of delicious menu items. We encourage you to give it a try in the near future!
To entice you a little more, we have five $15 gift cards to give away to five lucky readers! Simply leave a comment below stating whether or not you have visited Midtown previously.
