St. Paul’s Preschool’s Camp Create

By Shelley Holden

If you are looking for a fun and creative summer day camp for kids, St Paul’s Preschool’s Camp Create in Winston-Salem is just the answer! Run by St. Paul’s Preschool teachers, this camp offers crafts, games, adventures and more for your little ones. It is open to children ages 18 months old by the first day of their camp week to age 5 (rising kindergarteners.) Children are split by classes based on their age and each class gears its activities to that particular age level.

Each camp experience is different, and teachers pick themes and focus the activities for the week on those themes. My oldest daughter particularly loved “Traveling Around the Globe” last year. Along with other rising kindergarteners, she spent the week on an imaginary voyage from Italy to Mexico and more. In each country, they learned about the culture and did crafts and activities that taught them about the people and their traditions. They also cooked a special snack each day that went along with the country. She had the best time and I was amazed at what she learned about each country that has stuck with her. She said it was her favorite camp week!

My younger daughter loved Pirate/Treasure Hunt week. Each day, she went on an adventure in her class looking for treasure and realized that treasure comes in all forms. She still has the treasure box she made last summer and pulls it out quite often with her special collection! She also learned a lot about pirates and even for this girly-girl, she thought it was a blast!

St. Paul’s Camp Create runs Monday-Friday from 9am-12:30pm and Lunchbunch (parents send a lunch) is included. The cost is $145 for each week. There is a special option for toddlers, you can choose to send your child for a 2-day or 3-day option in the toddler class or the regular 5-day option. The cost for Tues-Thurs is $58 and Mon-Wed-Fri is $87. This is a great way to introduce your children to summer camp at an early age! Also, there are few options in the summer for toddlers, so this was always a great way to find some fun for my littlest one!

Camp Create has three sessions this year… June 3-7, June 10-14, and August 5-9. If you have older elementary children, this offers something fun for your preschooler to do while grade schools are still in session during the month of June. The August week is also a great way to get them back in the groove of regular preschool as well. It promises to be a great time had by all and your little ones don’t want to miss it.
