Banana Bread

Yummy Banana Bread Recipe to Bake with Kids

I love baking with my children. Baking with my children has helped my picky eater become more willing to try new things. This yummy banana bread recipe is great for the kids to join the fun. You will be saying yum after every bite, whether it’s eaten like toast with a little butter or nothing added. The best part of this banana bread recipe is it is easy to follow and you probably have the items at home now.

Tips with baking kids

  • Expect the mess and embrace it. I try to laugh about the mess to stop me from becoming upset.
  • To prevent big messes, have the ingredients already measured out. This makes the process go faster and easier to delegate tasks.
  • Give everyone an assignment to help avoid fights.
  • Have fun! The goal of baking together is to create a closer bond.

Equipment

To prepare this yummy banana bread recipe, you’ll need:

  • A mixing bowl (We love this set with lids and attachments)
  • A whisk or fork
  • Measuring cups & spoons
  • Bread pan
  • Cooking Kit for kids (optional)

Not only is this recipe simple and yummy, it is also budget-friendly. With just a few dishes to make this banana bread recipe means little dishes to wash. To add more fun you can have your kids use their cooking kit utensils.

Banana Bread Ingredients

Banana Bread Recipe Ingredients

For this yummy banana bread recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 1⁄2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 overripe bananas, finely crushed. (This recipe can still be yummy with only 2 bananas. You can also use 4 bananas to make the bread more moist.) ● 1 1⁄2cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla (optional)

Banana Bread Recipe Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º / 180º.
  2. Crush bananas in a mixing bowl by using a fork. It is important to use an overripe banana because it would make crushing the banana easier. 3. Add butter, sugar, and eggs in a mixing bowl. Mix until until combined well. 4. Whisk together flour, soda, and salt in the same bowl of your creamed banana mixture.
  3. Add vanilla. Again this ingredient is optional.
  4. Mix all ingredients until combined. This part should not take long so try not to overmix.
  5. Pour mixture into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350º / 180º for 55 minutes. Use a toothpick to make sure the banana bread is done. Pick the middle of the bread with the toothpick. If the toothpick comes out dirty, the bread needs more time in the oven. If the toothpick is clean the banana bread is ready. Don’t exceed 5 minutes at a time if the bread needs more time.

Let the bread cool before eating. Your yummy banana bread can be good for up to 3 days at room temperature in an air-tight container. Good for up to a week in the fridge but trust me the kids or hubby will eat it before then. It is also good for up to a year if you decide to freeze it. Have fun baking with your little ones.
