Creativity is intelligence having fun

Within only 8 months since the Grand Opening, Little Blank Canvas won its first TMoM 2014 Winner Award for Favorite Enrichment Program in High Point. According to Flavia Nazareth, Founder of Little Blank Canvas, the studios’ unique approach is what makes Little Blank Canvas so successful. “Our approach is unique. We provide artistic freedom to stimulate creativity so students feel safe to make their own creative choices during our mixed media classes. There is no right or wrong. Students feel free to explore and learn. We start every class with our “wall of inspiration”, which consists of images and important information about our lesson. After 10 to 15 minutes through our inspirational wall, students are engaged and inspired to enjoy the art class.” After each class, parents receive a handout about the lesson to encourage conversation about what was covered in class.

Little Blank Canvas is an art enrichment program for children 18 months and up located in the heart of the Triad. The Studio offers an exciting age and developmentally appropriate curriculum for art exploration with hands-on Fine Arts projects focusing on art principles while introducing students to many different types of mediums.

Only using high quality materials, the bright and open studio provides a lively space that is safe, engaging, organized and welcoming. Every art lesson is designed to be messy and fun, allowing children to explore and expand their creativity, while learning concepts about art, history, different mediums, shapes and textures.

“Our curriculum objective is to meet every child at his or her unique ability level. We combine Fine Art with Fun Art. Our emphasis is on the process of art and stimulating creative and intellectual development” explains Mrs. Nazareth.

Mixed Media Art Classes, including a Homeschool Art Program, are offered during the School Year, weekly, for all age groups. In addition to teaching classes, during the summer, the Studio provides weekly Summer Camps exploring a different artist each day, so campers can attend every week without repeating a project.

From Birthday parties for kids and adults to fundraisers, Little Blank Canvas is the perfect place to host your special event or any social gathering. All events include an art session (paint a canvas, watercolor projects, art projects for kids and more) and all guests leave the Studio with a masterpiece!

Adults are also welcome to brush up on their creativity at Little Blank Canvas. Every Thursday evening, the Studio hosts a “Paint a Canvas” session for 2 hours, with a new theme every week. Participants are welcome to bring favorite drinks, snacks and enjoy some creative time with friends.

For families that can’t commit to any weekly schedule, the Studio hosts monthly events every Friday afternoon. On first Fridays, from 4:30 to 6:00pm, an Open Studio session is offered for kids of all ages. Different art stations are set up every month for children and families to explore and create great artwork. A big mural on the wall is always available on every monthly open studio. Admission is $12 per child and adults are free of charge. On second Fridays, parents can drop off children ages 4 and plus for a Kid’s Night Out from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Kids will paint a canvas during the evening while having tons of fun. Pizza and refreshments will be served during the night. Admission is $30 per child and a 10% discount is offered for siblings. For older kids and young adults, the Studio offers a creative Sketch Journal Workshop every third Friday from 5:30 to 6:45pm. During 75 minutes, participants will learn about new techniques and explore new medium every session. Participants are encouraged to bring their sketchbook to work on the privacy of their own journal during the workshop.

On Friday October 24, the Studio will host their annual “Pumpkin Decoration Workshop” from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. More than 42 families attended the workshop last year, and Little Blank Canvas is expecting to have more artists this year. Every participant will receive a medium size pumpkin at arrival at the studio and a candy bag with the studio logo. Stations with tons of art supplies, including paint, glitter, bottoms and more will be ready to help decorate pumpkins and candy bags. Admission is $20 per child and adults are free of charge. First come first serve, but you can pre-register by contacting the studio.
