PDQ Helps to Raise Funds for Autism Science
By Rachel Hoeing
Hopefully you have all been able to dine at Winston-Salem’s PDQ restaurant located in the newest shopping center on the corner of Stratford Road and Harvey Street. PDQ stands for People Dedicated to Quality, and the restaurant surely lives up to its name. Their food, service, and atmosphere are all you are looking for when searching for terrific family dining. PDQ is known for their hand-breaded chicken tenders, hand-tossed salads, made-to-order sandwiches, fresh-cut fries and hand-spun milkshakes. They offer dine-in, drive thru or catering options.
During the month of April, PDQ restaurants and Autism Speaks are partnering to help raise funds for Autism Awareness Month. A portion of proceeds from the sale of every Spicy Buffalo Bleu Tenders Sandwich combo meal will be donated to Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. Autism Speaks is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
Autism affects one in 68 children, and PDQ is helping spread awareness and funds through this partnership in the Dine Out for Autism program. Donations to Autism Speaks help fund research, advocacy initiatives and free resources such as Autism Speaks Tool Kits.
PDQ’s Spicy Buffalo Tenders sandwich combo meal includes two crispy chicken tenders on a brioche bun with lettuce and buffalo bleu sauce, choice of apples and toffee dip, hand-cut fries or blueberry cole slaw and a beverage. Can you say, “WIN-WIN?” You can enjoy this delicious meal AND know that you are helping others!
In addition, local country singer Tiffany Ashton will preform at PDQ on April 23 at 7PM. With a brother who has autism, this cause is close to her heart. Tiffany is ready to help us spread the word, raise funds, and create awareness. A percentage of sales on this night will be donated to a local autism organization.
Many local moms have shared with us on TMoM some of their experiences, triumphs, and struggles in raising children with autism. You can read these blogs by scrolling through our list here. It is near and dear to our hearts here at TMoM, and we are ready to help spread the word as much as possible.
Be sure to stop by PDQ during the month of April, order your Spicy Buffalo Tenders Sandwich combo, and tell them TMoM sent you!
