Salem Sports Camp for Kids – a TMoM Favorite!

Sponsored by Salem Sports Camp for Kids

When I mentioned the topic of Summer Camp to my children last week, my son immediately asked if he could attend the same camp as last year.  “You know, the one where they called me Jake the Snake?  The one where I got to swim and have free time on the field?  The one where I get to do archery this year?”  Of course he was talking about Salem Sports Camp and of course I knew we would be signing him up again this summer.

His experience with the camp was nothing short of fabulous, and I am excited to sign my daughter up this year as well.  The cost is $145 per week, plus you will get an additional $5 off by mentioning TMoM.   On top of that, siblings get a 25% off discount, so you won’t break the bank if you have more than one child who would like to attend.

The camp is for ages 4-11, so it is ideal for parents who want only one drop-off and pick up per day!  There is a half-day multi-skill camp for kids ages 4-6 and a half day sports camp for ages 7-11.  Both run from 8:30am-1:00pm, which is just enough time for parents to get a little break from the kiddos and the kids to get a break from mom and dad as well!  🙂   This camp is held on the grounds of Salem Academy in Winston-Salem, but since the camp day is 4 1/2 hours, Triad families who may not live in Winston-Salem, can still sign their children up for this camp and have plenty of time to return home in between drop-off and pick-up.

The younger children will experience a mix of high energy activities as well as less physically demanding activities, which all focus on fun.  Indoor swimming is a favorite for this group and is often used as a cool down period on the extra hot days.

The older kids will be introduced to the fundamentals of sports, and experience sports such as swimming, tennis, golf, field hockey, basketball, soccer, T-ball, lacrosse and archery.    Again, the goal is to have fun, but also learn rules, strategies, skills and competitive knowledge.

Another huge bonus for parents is that lunch and snack are provided by the camp.  Score for mom and dad who don’t have to pack lunches all week!  All campers will also get a free T-shirt.  There are four different weeks offered for camp: June 20-24, June 27-July 1, July 5-8, and July 11-15.

To register for camp, visit http://www.salemacademy.com/page.cfm?p=520 and download the brochure.  Be sure to mention TMoM on your application and deduct $5.  You can also email sportscamp@salem.edu with questions, or call 336-721-2732.  We hope to see you there!
